How long until Wood is labelled a downhill skier then?

Saw the season promo video filming.
Both Wood and Sherman in 10 and 11 respectively.

Jason Tutt was also wearing 15

When he starts performing the famous Eagle routine of over-celebrating junk time goals when we're 60 points up :D

Should we make Jones change number? We've never had an outstanding 19 in our history (that I can recall anyway), and we really need him to develop into a gun. I say give him #6.

Probably only Gary Merrington, but he's well before your time.

Yep, before my time, but my Dad assures me he was a very ordinary player in a terrible team. He held a strong dislike of him for some reason.

Not sure why he would say that. He played 174 games and was a very good fullback in an unsuccessful era for the club.

He was very very strong about it, so perhaps they'd had a run in during their earlier years.

Was he that good? I always thought he was handy but not a lot better than that.

Speaking of full backs, poor Zeno Tzatzaris.

No respect in his playing days, and evidently still no respect post...

Less players kicked their hundreds on Zeno than on Merro. Bit of respect please.

Number 19 should be permanently retired in a ritual burning...it is CURSED!

Higgins was looking like a gun in number 19 - and has battled ever since in the famed number 7!

I can't understand how you came to that conclusion. If anything personally I'd consider Hahn a better player than Southern.

Any chance of Talia getting his grandfather's number 32?

I guess that would make a nice story, depending on whether a) he wants it & b) having Vez agree to relinquish it.

I really don't understand why Picken is not in the leadership group. As you say, right up there with Johnno and Charlie for ticker.

Could be plenty of reasons, maybe he doesnt want to be, maybe he is a quiet kid or maybe he has to concentrate on his game.
Might not be a leader at all.
Then again looking at our group he has tough competition

Oh, don't get me wrong, love Vez as a player, think he really does have a lot of ability.

Just based on the way both he was handled last year, and the way we drafted this year, I don't think he's rated very highly internally.

Is Wood carved out of stone?

Panos looks in great shape too.

If Veszpremi doesn't play 15+ games next year, it'd be very disappointing. I hope he's given every opportunity -- he simply should be playing if the effort's there (which it was, when played).

Things of Stone and Wood...great Melbourne band of the 1990's.

Great? I saw the lead singer at Queenscliff festival on the weekend, still wearing a stripy t-shirt in another gutless poppy band.

Aren't these good reasons to keep him in the #19? You know, nobody's ever going to do it good if they're always given new numbers.

I think they've taken the replacement for Callan Ward thing literally. Put Smith in 14 and hope no-one notices.

So to update, from what we know so far it's

8- Vez
10- Wood
11 - Sherman
14 - Smith
15 - Tutt
32 - Talia

#'s still available under 40 - 6, 18, 20, 24, 28, 29, 34

Anyone got any more?

I have my #29 guernsey too. Might need to add Dickson's signature to the incumbent Wood one.
