View Full Version : Are you still using the 'beard' scarf?

Guys,

I love my WOOF 'beard' scarf. I always wear it with pride and joy. Specially now the weather is cold outside, I tend to wear it a lot.

However, does anyone else feel weird like me wearing the beard scarf... since the 'beard' has moved on to other 'bigger' things.

I would have liked if he stayed retired, so that I can still proudly wearing my beard scarf.

Now, every time I use the scarf, I turned the beard inside to hide it but it is not always convenient. :o

Could we get another production run for the WOOF scarf with a new theme? "wink wink wink .... to ... ThePieMan" ;) He did such a good job with the beard scarf.

Maybe we could do something with Dahl? Does every one think Dahl dread lock already reach cult status within the WOOF community and deserve to be on some kind of merchandise?!

Cheers.

I started a new job during last year's finals so haven't badgered people with the back story of the scarfe....until last Friday.

I brought the scarfe into work and trawled through the old threads to create a Beard Scarfe gallery to amaze/bore my new colleagues. Good times. Amongst questions such as 'who is Ben Hudson' was 'what cult figure can you focus on next?'

I thought about Dahlhaus (in the middle of our street) and his dreads, though he's committed to trimming them by year's end for charity....

So I wore the scarfe for the first time in quite a while to the game Friday - WOOF side up.

Anyone else?

Would love to wear my beard scarf again, although it seems a little strange now that the "beard" has moved to sunnier weather and is still on the park! Mine is a treasured article, as I have had most of the players sign it!

I'm in for a Dahlhous scarf if we do a run - so, would we have a different theme to "appreciation society", or can that cross all boundaries? What does everyone call him - I have heard Bob Murphy call him "the grommet", which is slang for an inexperienced or junior surfer (I think - happy to be corrected).

Another reason to have Dahl dreads scarf before he trimming it off :)

Are you still in contact with the peoples who produce the scarf last time around?

From memory I thought Bob Murphy coined the term People's Beard? Which of course he only coined it that due to the thread on the woof forum.

Not totally relevant but sort of fits in with fan fashion. I recently purchased a luchador mask, out of respect to our sponsors lovely Mexican cuisine products.

Back to the topic guys :). Seem like reasonable interest for a new scarf. We need someone 'skillful' like BornAScragger to do the design and 'ThePieMan' to play his connection with the production company and voil* ... we should end up with a new, warm, uniq WOOF scarf ;)

Im all for a new scarf as I also have retired my BHBAS scarf to the back window of my Commodore (Geez how Western Suburbs am I).

Love the idea of another scarf dedicated to another one of our player's talent/facial features. Dalhaus is a good target, all I thought of was "He got Dreaaaaaaaads. And knows how to use them" So that covers any songs, will need to think of something more scarf suited.

I,m just going with the flow , you have an idea I,ll post a design , slightly stuck on the template as I need a space to put writing , I have got 4 or 5 I havn,t tried , fire away

as far as people to make a scarf for Bob is pretty high up the list , I heard ages ago that someone was calling him Alice , well he was conceived in Alice Springs but other than that I havn,t a clue , there was someone else who commented on one of his games when he first started ( slightly horizontally challenged and rakish ) , he said young Robert has committed several " Cardinal thins " as in caught in the wrong position and pushed off the ball , asked what that meant he said " His father was a Priest and his mother was a Nun " laughing till we all fall down , thinking back on that now that is a hell of a nickname for Bob - Cardinal Thins

Not quite traditional tartan but the template allowed the writing to be visible

You need to package all these up and send them to the club. Some great work there.

The club should look at these for a Legends scarf.

Ok, time to bump this thread, my poor old peoples beard scarf is looking like the 6.04am service from broadmeadows. old, tired and smelling like stale beer.

Now that we have a new breed of bulldogs, I think its time to come up with something new.

I'm thinking it should be all about Fewch, or even Stringybean.

What does thou say Woofers?

If we wanted to actually make something like this I'd obviously put more time and effort into the reaper dog. I was thinking a flag pole instead of a gun, with the VFL 2014 premiers flag replacing the blade. A sherrin with an anarchist symbol on it.

Thoughts?
