Hate giving votes on a day like this.

Marmo

4. Griffen- far and away the only midfielder who had any ability to run and move with the ball- however even he butchered the ball with regularity
3. Higgins- not a fantastic day, but up against the crap most everyone else dished up he looked good by comparison
2.Cross- no effect on the game, but found plenty of it. On a better day, his performance wouldn't even feature.
1. Really struggling now......Tom Campbell. 5 clearances good hands, and not overawed.

James
THis is very difficult too
2. Campbell
1.Howard

For me on suck a pessimistic day for the club,

4. Campbell - looked OK for his first hit out
3. Griffen - was the only one who looked like it for 4 quarters
2. Smith - tried his guys out when they finally put him on
1. Howard - thought he played ok with np mates down back

2. Campbell
1. Haward

Honestly very surprised to see Griffen featured in all votes. Thought he was poor today. Didn't work anywhere near hard enough to beat taggers and butchers most of his possessions. If it were Boyd he'd have been left out. Maybe my expectations are to high.

Anyway, here goes.

4. Libba. I finally found someone looking to block taggers. Thought he was our best and most efficient without looking at the numbers.
3. Lake. Tried hard down back, got beaten as the game went on but Superman would have struggled.
3. Campbell. First game, didn't look like it. Hudson is a workhorse and he took it to him.
1. Howard. I'm going to sneak him in for one. Thought he was pretty good.

2. Libba
1. Campbell

Someone please explain what did Campbell do?
To be people's best bulldogs player I must have missed something in those 11 possessions and 4 marks.
I understand he got 4 more possessions and 1 less mark than a player we thought was finished last year but his game was just encouraging and that's it.

Being a ruck man, I would have thought it is important to state hit outs. Perhaps this does not fully support your argument?
I agree he was not our best however was in our bests, in a team who were woeful, that's a good effort in itself for a debutant.
28 hit outs by the way......

There was some very good tap work in there too. Which we did make the most of.

2. Smith - tried his guys out when they finally put him onI'm sure Jayson Daniels tried his guts out for St Kilda but he wasn't much help when he couldn't hit the side of a barn door by foot. Clay did not make me feel any better about his foot skills yesterday.

Unlike other posters, I was quite underwhelmed by Howard's left peg yesterday. I saw an awful lot of floaters and helicopters in amoungst the 1-2 beautiful kicks he executed. Drummond and Rich were much cleaner, precise and ultimately more damaging with their left pegs yesterday IMO.

I didn't have the hit out stat at the time.
28 at 29% against 23 at 30%
1 tackle vs 5 to Huddo
5 clearances vs 0

A good first game but far from our best.
