In 2007, we had a disastrous second half of the year with some massive losses:

Margin
Round 15 Essendon Win 131-98 33
Round 16 Geelong Loss 63-138 75
Round 17 West Coast Loss 71-158 87
Round 18 St Kilda Draw 85-85 0
Round 19 Melbourne Loss 87-129 42
Round 20 Adelaide Loss 73-107 34
Round 21 Hawthorn Loss 67-151 84
Round 22 North Melb Loss 93-157 64

Then in 2008, we only had one loss one draw in the first 15 rounds.

It all clicked with new game plans, players, coaches etc. Bring on 2013:D

Like the positive thread bornadog. Lets hope it's the case in 2013.

Good idea. We don't want to always speak about the negatives. Why do you think we went down do much in 2007?

When we knew we were no chance to be effective for finals in 2007, I've heard Rocket opted to "put the defence into the fire" and play entirely one-on-one, without fail, in order to improve them individually and as a unit for the future. We ended up having one of the best defences, and definitely the best rebounding defence over the next 3 years!

It was painful to watch Lake frustrated week in and week out though.

We were also decimated by injury in 2007. I believe we had 6 to 8 of our starting 22 missing from the last 6 or 7 rounds. We even plucked players from Werribee reserves to play.

But we also had a very good core of 23-28 year olds and a couple of younger stars (Cooney & Griffen) ready to go.... We don't have that anymore.

Wait for it!

We have a few key posistion players that next year should be ready to tear it apart.

Surly next year Dahlhaus, Cordy, Roughead, Howard, Skinner, Wallis and Libba will be over the second year blues

Add these to Williams, Jones, Minson and we should easy be on the improve.

Yep, I think we are all getting lost in what is happening this year, I think we just have to grin and bear it, and fingers crossed we will be pushing for a top 8 position or just outside next year.

We also should have about 9 million draft picks in a supposedly "super" draft. With as many picks as we have surely we can pluck a few that address our needs. Hopefully some will be ready to make a start in at least the second half of 2013 too.

It's all sounding like the start of our next serious "window".

Hopefully we get it right in the draft and we can push forward and develop our team into a top 8 side.

It's not about the Qty but the quality of the pick ups in the draft, this will be the most important draft that BMac has ever been involved in. I hope it works well in his favor and it should set us p for the next few years.

For mine we need to go for just the best person at the time don't put any more thought or process into this than that. We have anough players to move them around and we are leaking like a sieve and anything will he lout at the moment.
