I've created a private league for both Supercoach Draft and Supercoach.
Both leagues called WOOF.
12 spots in the draft league. (invite code 728391).
18 in the normal league. (invite code 200183).
Come on down.
PM me if you're having issues joining as I can email you an invite link.
Cheers,
BC

What is the go with this Supercoach Draft league?! Seems an interesting concept and would work for sports like NBA but unsure how it will transfer to AFL?

I don't like 'fantasy' sports like Supercoach and Dream Team. Breaks the game down to an individual focus too much for my liking. One aspect that annoys me in particular is how media coverage and stats analysis is increasingly through the lens of fantasy league scoring.
For mine it puts a lens on the game that detracts from the opportunity to appreciate development and performance from the team perspective. Just seems geared to celebrate the stars of the comp, ho unless they wear RW&B I don't care about.
That being said, I would love to hear your thoughts on why you like it? It is insanely popular, so I'm not anticipating many will share my thoughts.

4 spots left in normal league and 8 spots left in draft league.
Draft looks interesting.
Basically pick any player in draft order so long as they are not in another team - no salary cap.
You can have a variety of rules such as a live draft or an automatic draft where you preselect players and get your next available pick.
Have set draft day down for Sunday week.
I may have to tweak the rules depending on what the draft league entrants think - automatic draft may be better if not many people going to be around for a live draft.

Main reason I believe that these leagues took off (in US originally) was actually a push from the media to get people to watch games with teams that they didn't usually support and push up ratings.
I see how this works as I'll find myself watching games of other teams (which I wouldn't normally make an effort to do) and barrack for individual players to do well - eg. kick a bag today Buddy or hope a young rookie gets a few touches!
I don't think it takes away from my appreciation of the other points you raised - more just a sideshow and a bit of fun.

Ultimate Footy, which has been bought by Fairfax and I assume will be heavily promoted by The Age this year, is a draft style comp which I did last year and it was great. It makes it a lot more interesting when a player can only be in one team. You don't have 18 teams in your league with Ablett as captain every week for starters!!
It also means you can make trades to other coaches and sign unlimited numbers of 'free agents' each week. I found it to be a lot more challenging and competitive than Supercoach, so I'm not surprised that SC has developed a draft league option for this season.

It's no coincidence that the leading comps are run by an AFL centric newspaper and the AFL itself.
It works though, people even take to watching the expansion teams get smacked by 10 goals every week to see how their kids went.

In my efforts at getting into fantasy sports, the draft style set up I think works best.

This is more of a Supercoach Help question..
When I logged in this year I had to choose whether to enter a public league/private/create a league, I didnt have a elague number at the time so I hit create.
Now when choosing the 'leave' option on the league it doesn't do anything. I created a league but don't really want it I wanna use that spot to join other leagues.
Any ideas?

I had the same issue although I just hit join public league, then it re-enabled last year's league that I set up for work :s
Not sure how to get out of it.. Maybe try google searching and see if it has been covered in another forum, possibly BigFooty supercoach dreamteam threads..

All fixed, cheers. I did just hit LEAVE, maybe I wasn't able to do it when I had spare league spots available.

I had the same issue, I think it makes you be in a minimum of one league at all times as when I signed up to a proper league I was then able to delete the first one
