Seems to be the only one who is struggling with the additional level of training, out of the young pups. Hoping that he was carefully managed through his quad injury as various compensations to that stress on the body may have stressed other areas of the body.

Western Bulldogs captain Matthew Boyd remains unavailable for selection this week as he continues his recovery from a calf strain.
The skipper was spotted going through his paces at Whitten Oval on Wednesday, testing out the injury with a few sprints.
But coach Brendan McCartney poured cold water on any talk of an early return against Richmond.
"He's on track. He won't play this week though. We don't mind saying that.
"He's still recovering from the injury, but this time next week we're confident he'll be pushing really hard for selection."
Defender Easton Wood is available, having overcome a hamstring injury, while Tom Williams will line up in the VFL.
Dylan Addison remains a week away from selection.

My guess is because he was more ready he got thrown in the deep end perhaps a little quicker than others and has suffered a bit for it. The compensation theory seems a likely one on the latest injury. We should aim to really nurse him through the next few weeks so he can get some continuity with games and training in the second half of the year.

He may have pushed himself too hard prior to being drafted. Brent Harvey has talked up his dedication to getting himself right to be picked, and his body might have been cooked after the under 18 season last year.
Agree that he needs to be nursed from this point. If need be he should play Willi 2nds and work his way up.

From the Bulldog site: LINK (http://www.westernbulldogs.com.au/news/2013-04-25/scapula-sidelines-giansiracusa)
Western Bulldogs forward Daniel Giansiracusa is expected to miss the next two weeks with a bruised scapula, after it flared up from the round four match against Adelaide.
Medical Services Manager Andrew McKenzie said Giansiracusa will require a short period without impact to the shoulder, for the injury to recover adequately.
“Gia has been sore over the past couple of weeks with a bruised scapula, and hasn’t shown any signs of improvement — he’ll need to avoid contact to the area for a short period so it can settle,” McKenzie said.
“We’ll monitor him closely over the next fortnight, with an aim to have him ready to play as soon as possible.”
As you get older things take longer to heal, Vez may well get a couple of weeks look in.

Stress fracture puts big Dog out for a month (http://www.westernbulldogs.com.au/news/2013-05-12/stress-fracture-puts-big-dog-out-for-a-month)
WESTERN Bulldogs ruckman/forward Ayce Cordy will be sidelined for four weeks after scans revealed a stress fracture in his fibula.
The 202cm big man had scans on Friday, with a Bulldogs' spokeswoman confirming Cordy's lower-leg injury to AFL.com.au on Sunday.
Cordy has played three matches for the Dogs this season, booting three goals, including two against the Brisbane Lions in round one.
The 22-year-old has played 17 games for the Dogs after being drafted as a father-son selection in the 2008 NAB AFL Draft.
Injuries and a light frame held him back in the early years of his AFL career, although he has added 26kg since first joining the club in 2009.
Cordy has been mentored by three-time premiership player and specialist coach Cameron Mooney throughout the pre-season and the Bulldogs hope he can form a strong partnership with fellow tall forward Liam Jones.

2012 draftee Josh Prudden will spend the next fortnight on the sidelines after injuring his ankle in the VFL on Saturday.
Getting caught in a tackle, the 18-year-old twisted his ankle, which will require two weeks to rehabilitate, Western Bulldogs Medical Services Manager Andrew McKenzie said.
“Josh was caught up in a tackle and twisted his ankle,” McKenzie said.
“He’s injured a ligament in the top of his foot and he will miss a few weeks with that.”
After playing his first senior game since round 18 last year, Tom Williams got through the game against St Kilda unscathed, and will back up again this week in Darwin.
“Tom got through the game well, he’s pulled up well after the game and he’s happy to go forward now and will train this week,” he said.
Adam Cooney is on track to return to the Bulldogs’ senior side after the bye weekend, after discovering a bleed in his hamstring that prevented him from playing against St Kilda last week.
“Adam was tight after the game, we watched it for a couple of days and he didn’t progress that well,” McKenzie said.
“We scanned his hamstring and it showed a small bleed in one of the muscles and he will miss this week as well.
“We hope to have him back after the bye.”

I would be super surprised if they drop him off the list. Seems a great fella and any surgery done would surely be of the type that makes his shoulder indestructible so to speak.
I just think they may rookie list him at worst.

Pretty rough injury list IMO.
Sure there's only two season ending ones on there at the moment, but there's plenty of senior players either having to be tested or not coming up right now.
Eight players from best 22 out, with Jong, Cordy, Prudden and Roberts the only ones of the 12 I wouldn't definitely play given the chance.

It's definitely a concern, so it seems a sensible approach. Given my lack of knowledge I may be way off the mark, but I wonder if he has issues with his back which continue to contribute to his hamstring woes?

Tory Dickson made a successful return to football in the VFL on Sunday, after being sidelined for the best part of two months by an ankle injury sustained in the Club’s round three match against Richmond.
Medical Services Manager Andrew McKenzie said Dickson got through the game at Williamstown comfortably and will be available for senior selection for Saturday night’s return fixture against the Tigers at Etihad Stadium.
“Tory has come in well today, he got through the game comfortably. He’s been training for a couple of weeks so we are confident he will be good and is coming [along] well,” McKenzie said.
Another two young Bulldogs are expected to return to football this weekend via the VFL, with Lin Jong and Ayce Cordy both overcoming leg injuries to rejoin the main group.
Jong is set to play his first game since round two of the VFL where he broke his leg while Ayce Cordy will make his return after rehabilitating a fibula stress fracture.
“Ayce and Lin have both completed a good couple of weeks of training and are ready to go so they will be available this week,” he said.
After being on the receiving end of a heavy hit from power forward Travis Cloke, midfielder Koby Stevens will also be monitored during the week.
“Koby copped a big knock from Cloke yesterday, he was sore at the time but he’s actually come in quite well today,” he said.
“We will monitor him through the week and will see how he goes further in the week.”

From WB medical rooms:
Young defender Jason Johannisen will miss the remainder of the season, after Western Bulldogs medical staff confirmed a dislocation of the right AC joint that will require surgery.
Johannisen has however been cleared of neck injuries by doctors, following a collision with GWS Giants forward Jeremy Cameron early in the third quarter of Saturday afternoon's match at Manuka Oval.
In the midst of a breakout season, 20 year-old Johannisen had played in 13 of the Bulldogs' 14 home and away matches in 2013, averaging 16 disposals as a rebounding defender.
A former rookie listed player, Johannisen debuted in round 19 of last season against North Melbourne, before being elevated to the senior list for 2013.

So do I but it was only yesterday that I got an appreciation of his football smarts. A tap to his own advantage, a hand in the right place, a slight bump to buy himself time, he wins the ball more often than not through this rather than his attack on the ball. Scans clear Stringer of fracture (http://www.westernbulldogs.com.au/news/2013-08-05/scans-clear-stringer-of-fracture)
Scans have cleared Jake Stringer of any bone damage in his right foot after Bulldogs' top draft pick came from the field playing for VFL-affiliate Williamstown on Sunday.
Medical Services Manager Andrew McKenzie said the young Western Bulldogs forward will be monitored this week to determine his availability for this weekend.
“Jake hurt his foot early in the game, he was in quite a bit of pain but he had x-rays and a CT [scan] yesterday which cleared him of any bone damage – so there is no fracture there,” McKenzie said.
“He’s walking around much better today so we will monitor him throughout the week.”
In the AFL, Luke Dahlhaus sustained a broken nose in the Bulldogs' clash against Sydney but was able to return to the field to complete the match.
The injury will not stop the 20-year-old from taking to the field against Carlton on Saturday.
“Dahlhaus had a broken nose that was relocated by the doctor and once the blood was stopped he was able to return to the field, he’s got no issues now,” he said.
Easton Wood suffered an identical injury, also breaking his nose in Williamstown’s win against Collingwood.
Like Dahlhaus, Wood's broken nose won't impact his to return to the field this weekend says McKenzie, also adding the utility continues to make steps forward in his rehabilitation of a long-term hamstring injury.
“The good news is his hamstring and the rest of his body has pulled up really well, so we are really happy with his progress.”
Wood continues to increase his match workload at VFL level, Sunday marking his third consecutive appearance for Williamstown's seniors.
Meanwhile, the calf injury that ruled Dogs captain Matthew Boyd out of the round 19 clash against Sydney will continue to be monitored through training this week to determine his availability for the Saturday twilight clash against the Blues.
“Boydy had some soreness throughout the week, he had a scan which revealed no tear in the calf,” he said.
“We will monitor his soreness over the week and will see how he goes.”
Jack Redpath (knee) and Nick Lower (concussion) are also expected to be available for selection this weekend.

If he takes this option, it opens up the option to use the 3rd year rookie spot on Austin.
What about Redpath?

The potential ACL to Lin Jong makes the case for the AFL to follow the NFL (once again) and create an injury-reserve type of of rule that allows clubs to care for and invest in players with long-term injuries without losing list spots because of it.

I suppose What I'm asking is if you see Austin as the 3rd Year Rookie do you see Redpath being left in the cold?

What a great idea. It doesn't sit comfortably with me that we're limited in regards to how we treat Jong now. It seems so cold if he does his knee at the death of the season, and then our hand is forced by the rules as they are.

Isn't that the rationale behind the LTI list allowing rookies to be promoted?

Not the point I'm making though.
Because we have to turn over x amount of rookies after x time (I'm sorry, I don't know the exact particulars), now that Jong is injured at the end of his final year as a rookie, we've got no scope to keep him on the payroll while he recuperates, whereas the other poster is saying the NFL has a clause that caters for just this situation.
It feels a bit greasy that Jong has this injury and now it seems we have to cut him away.

I get what you are saying.
I guess we could keep Jong on as a 3rd year rookie though. That would require either Austin being promoted to the senior list or cut from the playing list.

Yeah. The tricky thing about that is I think Austin probably deserves a 3rd year rookie spot rather than a senior spot.

Really? He's in the best 25-26 players, I'd say he's worked hard enough to deserve a main list spot
always right

Is it related to his previous break? Really feel for young Lin.....and I had high hopes for him. He desparately needs continuity.

Ok, maybe. I haven't seen enough of him over the distance so I'll take your word for it.
I was very happy with how he played when he did get a go though.
