THE WESTERN Bulldogs have been fined $10,000 for bringing a player from outside their emergency list in as a late change to face Richmond on Sunday.

The Bulldogs lost Ayce Cordy to back tightness during the warm-up, and did not have a key position player among their emergencies Jack Macrae, Lukas Markovic and Jason Johannisen.

So instead they included Tom Campbell, who had not played VFL the day before, as Cordy's replacement when final teams were named 90 minutes before the first bounce.

In a statement, AFL football operations manager Mark Evans said $5000 of the fine would be suspended, given the club's co-operation and explanation as to why the change was made.

..GD Marko played the day before.

What I want to know is why Campbell didn't play on the Saturday with Willi only having one ruckman and using an under done Williams as 2nd ruck. In the end it didn't matter but just the planning was strange and did the bulldogs know this the day before?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but why then do they name players as emergencies, who will not be able to play anyway if they are called up?

Because then we'd have 3 players a week playing no football whatsoever when Williamstown play the day before.

LOL - nice perspective. But to be fair, $1000 per possession ( $5000 suspended, thank you your honor )
