I know it was only 2008 (discounting the NAB Cup success) but it seems like a hell of a long time since we beat the Saints.

The last time was Round 11, 2008 when we won by 27 points. A young kid called Callan Ward debuted for the Dogs and many experts predicted he would go on to be a 200 game player and future leader of the club.

As a result of a quirky (fixed)ture that year, Round 11 was the second time we played the Saints that season. After giving them a 6 goal start at quarter time, we overran them completely to record a 38 point win in Round 3.

A lot has changed in the world since Round 11 2008 (June), so as winter approaches again and the cold begins to set on what looks like could be a very long season, I think it's time we lighten up a little bit and have a laugh at our own expense.

So, give us your best attempt at humour and finish the following sentence.

"The last time we beat the Saints I ......................................"

The best entry will not win anything other than accolades from your fellow Bulldog Brethren.

"The last time we beat the Saints we only lost one game in the previous ten now we have only won one in the previous 10."

Funny how times have changed. I remember when we couldn't lose to the saints. Remember Max Hudghton crying? Or once in 2004 (I think) when they were unbeaten and not sure if we had won many if any, it was the first time I bet on a football game cause the dogs were paying $7.50 and I remember thinking, saints never beat the Dogs.

was laughing at the bloke who put $100,000 on the Saints at $1.04 at quarter time.

The last time we beat the Saints Ross Lyon had coached 10 games and people were wondering if he could coach... The Saints barely lost another game for the next 2 and a half years.

"The last time we beat the Saints I used to go to games expecting at least a competitive performance"

5 years? Far out...

...remember being amazed at our ability to score rapidly and heavily. Overlapping speedy runners like Cooney and Griff free wheeled down the ground. We were being hailed as an exciting free flowing team...

Was it really only 2008? It's a few (bulldog) lifetimes ago.

....... I think I was still drunk from the weekend before in Launceston where we towelled up the Hawks.

Stayed at a fine establishment called the TRC Hotel ($40 a night and it was worth every cent).

The game in 2008 against the Saints when we were smashed in the first quarter, only to go on and destory them. Seeing Cooney and Griffen absolutely dominating in the same game was so exciting.

I was sure we would see that combo for the next 7/8 years dismantle teams on a weekly basis.

Sad face.

The last time we beat the saints I was in my 20s, still living in Tasmania and yet to travel overseas. I've since lived in Darwin for 4 years and travelled all over the world.

:D Sadly no, yesterday I danced that same jig in front of a young family on holiday. Who I'm quite sure thought there was something wrong with me. :D

.....was off my Chevy Chase wandering around Times Square in NY checking the scores every 10 minutes on pocket news (remember that function on Nokia phones before the iPhone days?). I managed to last until the final scores (about 3 in the morning NY time) and then proceeded to get really hammered....that 8am meeting the next day was a little rugged!

Last night! I standing up for the last 5 minutes of the game, fists clenched and arms raised in a V.

The missus filmed me, I had no idea as I was fixated on the TV. Funny to watch today...

Much better than the 2010 prelim where the flat screen was in serious danger.

The last time we beat the Saints I was at the Smashing Pumpkins concert at Festival Hall. The game was just finishing as I was driving out from my car park and the Bulldogs song was playing on the radio. I made sure to turn it up as loud as I could while their supporters were scurrying out trying to get away without hearing it.

...was stuck on a train for 2.5 hours with a flat battery on my phone. Complete football blackout from the 10 minute mark of the 3rd quarter till about 9pm when I got home. Couldn't boot up the computer fast enough!

...loved Aker as a player and a bloke.

How the times have changed!

And on an interesting note, on Saturday only 7 of those players played in our last victory against em' (fyi Addison,Boyd,Gia,Griff,Minno,Morris,Williams)

Me too - I got married the next day, stayed at Crown Casino that whole weekend - found myself watching the last half on the then Ch 7 delayed coverage in a pub on Spencer St following the gig then stumbled back to my room.

Was pretty dusty the next morning - still got the HS from that morning (for obvious reasons) and the top RHC of the front page is about our win.
