This is the round 12 edition of the Weekly Bankers and Anchors Thread.

Please post your nominations for:

The Bankers = 3 players that we banked on to do the right thing during the game

The Anchors = 3 players that weighed us down by their errors or poor play

Please limit it to no more than three of each, but feel free to make honourable/dishonourable mentions. As usual try to make it constructive criticism.

The thread is named in honour of a popular WOOF Contributor, The Banker, who passed away on 22/04/2012 after a six month battle with cancer.

Bankers:

1. Griffin - just a class above
2. Murphy - see above
3. Stringer - 12 marks without looking dangerous. Just can't wait ti see this guy with a full pre-season

Apologies Libba, Gia, Johanisson

Anchors:

1. Marcovic - offered nothing today......held the team back
2. Picken - probably the worst game I have seen him play - either drop him or move him to a defensive forward position
3. Addison - summed up to me where he is at. His best is good enough, but if just doesn't happen often enough

Apologies to Boyd, Cooney (who is not a backman's ar****hole)

Agree with Fredi, but can I add

Banker - JJ - took the game on.

Anchor
- Captain. Got plenty of it, but 44% kicking is atrocious and hurt us.
Liam Jones
Paid to kick those.

Yeah Yeah, Heath Shaw was good, but it's not hard to be when we put it on his chest.

Bankers:

1. Griffen, a class above any of his team mates.

2. Stringer - from limited opportunities still took 12 marks and kicked a couple.

3. Gia - looks like he is wasted as a sub.

Anchors:

1. Markovic - Not up to AFL Standard

2. Addison - Have said many times " Per Above"

3. Boyd - 32 Disposals, but gee he hurts us - not the opposition.

I can only think of one:

Anchor — Heath Shaw. Just a pity he plays for the other side. Owned us.

always right

Bankers:
Murphy....gee we're going to miss this bloke in a couple of years
The young blokes...Talia, Smith and JJ all look like long term players for us.
Gia....don't be tempted to start him in future games. The subs vest has been a great success

Anchors:
Cooney....that first half in particular was putrid. The lack of effort was pathetic.
Markovic.....didn't ever look like getting the ball
Goodes effort when the ball was in dispute with Swan coming the other way. Hate to say it but I think Goodes jibbed it.

Yeah, I thought that was lined up for one down the middle.

Forget lining up the man...make a statement by winning the ball FFS.

True but I would have loved to see him put on his arse.

And get reported again?? Which he surely would have for hurting Swan!!!

Bankers- Minson - dominated in the ruck
Griffen - consistent
Murphy- very good today
Talia- best game today. Kick within his limitations he'll be fine.
Stringer- really really good player in the making
JJ - we looked dangerous with his run and carry in the second half
Libba- solid as ever

Anchors- no more Markovic. I'd rather Brian Markovic
The conservative gameplan- backfired predictably on us. They thrive in slow ball movement .
Picken- cannot have Addison Picken and Lower in the same side. Way to negative for mine.
Cooney- looked soft and disinterested
Boyd- honestly capt turnover today. Screamed at the box in the last term when he kicked sideways to a three on one!! Thankfully Murphy cleaned up his mess and snagged a goal.

He lined him up and Swan danced around him... had to play the ball not the man.

I might be wrong, have only seen it once, live. But i got the feeling he copped a bad bounce.

Would love to have seen a legit full shirt front, but Swan was too elusive for him

Bankers:

Griffen - great to see him coping with the weekly attention so well
Murphy - got himself very involved when things weren't going well. As he should.
Stringer - a very good effort to mark the ball 12 times, in your 5th or 6th game when it was a hard day to be a Bulldog forward.

Anchors:

Jones - was disgraceful when the game was up for grabs.
Boyd & Cooney - our two 'big in's' - were a liability due to ball use.
Markovic - why was he in the team? Had no business being out there, certainly not as a forward.

Bankers
Talia - looks like he will be a decent player - reminds me a little of Ryan Hargrave
Stringer - 12 marks great effort
The ability to at least fight back and not let the score blow out

Anchors
Not taking the game on early - Collingwood's defensive pressure was great early but we played into their hands
Jones - I am a fan but he appears to be struggling at the moment
Boyd - turnover king - 44% disposal efficiency is not good enough from our captain.
