29-06-2013, 10:01 PM
This is the round 14 edition of the Weekly Bankers and Anchors Thread.
Please post your nominations for:
The Bankers = 3 players that we banked on to do the right thing during the game
The Anchors = 3 players that weighed us down by their errors or poor play
Please limit it to no more than three of each, but feel free to make honourable/dishonourable mentions. As usual try to make it constructive criticism.
The thread is named in honour of a popular WOOF Contributor, The Banker, who passed away on 22/04/2012 after a six month battle with cancer.

You mean Round 14.
Bankers
Libba - Great game the one big winner for four quarters.
Macrae, Hrovat, Stringer, Hunter - a couple of more years and they will be good.
Minson - battleted all game, took some great marks and nearly won the game for us.
Anchors
The coaching staff, completely got the match up wrong
Roughead - long long long way to go before he resembles a genuine fullback.
The first three quarters where were we?

Bankers
Griffen - could engrave his name in this thread
Minson - ditto
Libba - had one of his dominant games he usually reserves for when Boyd isn't playing, clearance king
Anchors
Jones - subbed off, again
Morris - well beaten by a defender
Stringer - struggled tonight
always right

B:
Libba.....wo says he can't play a game like that with Boyd in the team?
Minson.....carrying the team on his shoulders
Griffen......the man is a beast.
A:
Coaches......it's your job to have the players switched on. We were second to the ball right from the start
Substituting Jones. Not a great night but the delivery to him was as bad as I've sen it. I admired his contests when he was outnumbered....which was most of the time. I would have subbed Cordy or Dickson before Jones.
Dahlhaus and Dickson.....for Christ sake have at least some impact on the game.

Bankers- Libba - What a star
Griffen- true leader
Minson - battled manfully
Macrae - going to be a very good player
Draft Position- improved tonight after that woefully insipid display
Anchors- Cooney - looks disinterested
Lack of leadership from senior players Cooney, Boyd , Murphy( not to be seen when the whips were cracking)
The Game plan - What is it?

Couldn't believe they didn't substitute Cordy!

The lads team not turning up mentally until the last 15 minutes.
Me for logging onto WOOF after a loss like that. Shoulda known better.

At least he kicked two goals
In between, he gets outworked, outmarked( for someone so tall it's inexcusable)
Going early, but I'm not confident Ayce will make it.

Great contested mark and goal to cut the margin to 2-3 points.

Bankers.
Libba was just outstanding tonight. Amazing 4 quarter performance. One of his best.
15 minutes of football. We can play but it's sad when we start when the game is done.
The Women's match. Bring back the curtain raiser!
Anchors.
Hunter sub. Didn't like it, needed someone with a bit more speed in the forward half.
Forward half that is not named Gia.
MCG. Ask people to support women's football and get there early but don't open anything until 6.

Libba
Griffen
Gia with honorable mention to Minson
And any chance of recruting the no 3 melbourne player in the opening match? Superbly athletic, strong and takes a grab like none of ours do.
Anchors
The rest of the team & their inability to kick to the forwards
The forwards for being so static and trying to mark the ball with one hand (aargh !!!)
Coaching staff responsible for skills - no good winning the ball if you then blindly turn it over & if no-one is in front of you to kick to

Chelsea Randall. Looked an absolute gun. Not too bad on the eyes either.

BANKERS
Griffen - Brownlow beckons
Libba - he inherited his dad's heart
Minson - took a while to get going but dominated the last quarter
ANCHORS
Coaching staff - subbed off the wrong man. Had the wrong man starting sub. No structural changes when we are getting smashed all over the park. (to their defence though, there was zero effort from too many so swapping players around probably would've been futile)
Boyd - just handball the frigging thing.
Dahlhaus - looks like he's in slow motion compared to what we have seen from him. I saw a snail following him around tonight.

Bankers
- Ryan Griffen plays for us.
- Macrae's no look handball to Cooney
- Getting in early, but FDOTM's cartoon detailing the tragic comedy of being a Bulldogs supporter
Anchors
....
I could list 100 things but why bother?
Bankers:
Ryan Griffen - with a tagger literally hanging off him all night - just ran himself and the tagger into the ground. Amazing footballer....30+ possessions for the 8th (i think) time in a row...this week with 3 goals.
Libba - back to his best this week. Smart player.
Minson - continues to push himself to the limit. Great to see him take 3 contested marks, and kick a goal.
Anchors:
- Stringer/Jones/Cordy - had shockers, forward line didn't function.
- Clay Smith/Mitch Wallis - couple of young midfielders on the fringe who needed to be much better. No impact from either.
- Nick Lower - he wasn't the worst - but I continue to question on a weekly basis, his real value out there.
