This is terrific news.
We really don't know where the ceiling is on this kid.
I know we are all talking about landing a big KPF, but here is a young guy not yet 19, who is taller than Pavlich and Nic Riewoldt with fantastic hands and enormous reach.
Tested as elite kicking and just needs to grow into his body.
He could well be all the key forward anyone could want.

There seems to be some mistake. It was meant to be a six year extension, not two.

Said it after the Gold Coast game - he looks a complete natural as a key forward on the time he has spent in this position in recent weeks. Leads to the right spots, holds his own in marking contests, quick enough off the mark to gain separation on his opponent. We're talking about a bottom ager in his first year of senior football - frightening what he will be capable of in a couple of years' time.
Having Bonts and Stringer, alternating between midfield (when their aerobic capacity can handle it) and up forward is going to make our front half extremely dangerous in the coming years. That will leave 3rd string defensive spuds having to cope with Crameri, not to mention someone having to deal with our key forward whoever that might be in the future. Factor in defensively-minded animals like Dahl and Hrovat making sure the ball stays in there and the forward line is the least of our worries moving forward. The backline however.....

Bonts is a freak and I would say the best bottom ager I have seen since Chris Grant in his debut year as a 17 year old. he is exciting and can't wait to see him after a few pre-seasons.

Well Done Woofers, looks like #extendabonts was successful.

Good news. Good strategy too. A young player will take less cash, but guaranteed now, than they would if their contract is about to expire and their form is good.

Hat's off to all those involved in recruiting him and re-signing as well.
Not only did we take a risk on selecting him (overlooking Aish, Scharenberg, KK, and others), but it has paid off.
Rewinding the clock November last year you would think that out of the top 10 draft picks, you would of expected Bonts to take the longest to develop, being skinny, tall and under-age. Not only has he been a stand out given his rawness, he's pretty much 1 good game away from winning the rising star for the year.
We can only hope that he just continues to improve each year along with his fitness and body.
He's also a very well mannered and intelligent kid with little or no ego.

Awesome.
Bonti and Stringer in the same side makes me giddy.

What would a player with the upside of the Bont be worth? $500K a year? $750K a year?
If we are throwing $5m over 5 years at General Patton, then there must be a very healthy war chest at Whitten Oval.

Gotta say I'm disappointed. 2 years is well short of the 10 years we should have signed him up for.
Has taken way too long as well. Should have put pen to paper well before the draft.
Well done to all involved in getting the deal done.

Well it's a 2 year extension, so he's contracted for 3 years after this one. Only 7 short ;)
