I was a big wrap in his draft year, haven followed him all that closely since though.

why not give the guy a chance,he's got at least 10 years min in him compared to coons, that's only if coondog wants to still leave us?

Yes.

Saw a bit of Harper is his first couple of years. Has some attributes we lack. Pace and skill.

Was he injured much this year? Weird he wasn't given any games after a promising first couple of years.

He has had two years of ankle problems requiring surgery & rest. That's why he has only played 3 senior games in the last two seasons. Otherwise, looks interesting.

Mark Stevens says Bombers confident Cooney will be going to them.

Can he defend? Or more to the point will he?

If the answer is yes to either, then my answer is yes.

I want Cooney gone, so whatever the best offer is. Harper, Schoenmakers, pick 36 whatever.

Mere statements of fact do not constitute an insult.

Harper struggled all year in the VFL except for one game in the seniors. I wouldn't mind us making the deal if it can be done.

I find he's usually on the money.

Harper would be competing directly with Tory Dickson imo, very similar players. Maybe we see a half back role for him though?

always right

Harsh. He's one of the better journo's.

I've found him alright over the years and he must have some intelligence, doesn't he barrack for the Dog's ?

Reasonable to have a go at Harper and see if he can put it together in a new environment

Given we have interest in Dea, Biggs and Harper I think we're looking to add to our half backs.

I loved the look of Harper two years ago. Big fan. The ankle injuries are a concern but if he passed the medical, I would be very happy for this deal to go through.

I approve. Would be nice to get some some what developed players in rather than just draftees

Stevo is fine by me. One of the few I listen out for given his allegiance to the Bulldogs. He is constantly getting slammed by non Bulldog followers on Twitter for showing his colours. I say good on him for putting his Bulldog face on in the Twitter sphere.

I was actually always a fan of his.

Gee North really overrate their list. Selling the future with pick 36 or Harper. Either would favour us, as you might expect with us paying part of Cooney's salary

We are always on the lookout for half backs.

Norths offer for Cooney is said to be significantly better than Essendon's????

I would also like to express my disbelief at North being more reasonable than Essendon.

Kinda hoping the Cooney/Harper deal can go through, the more I think about it, the better it is for us.

Yes hardly surprising.

Trading for their players now adds the additional risk of a ban looming.

This aside, I'd consider Tayte Pears given our lack of ready defensive options.

OH MY GOD PLEASE FORGIVE ME!!!!!

I'm really surprised that Norf are prepared to load up on veterans to improve their chances of getting closer in prelims.

Did they not learn anything from our 2008-2010 period, where apart from dismal qualifying finals we proved that even with good showings in respective preliminary finals you need to regenerate your list over that time rather than throw opportunities at has beens?

Good for them, at least one club needs to demonstrate that history has a perfect habit of at best repeating itself, and in their case doing so with more severe consequences.

How they could possibly think they are at top-up to challenge status is beyond me. But to be fair, most of the thinking these past two weeks has been well beyond my comprehension anyway.

Shh. Let's not tell them any of this.

Very harsh doc. Their offer of a straight swap with Aaron Henneman is only their first offer. They will upgrade the offer to Mark Bolton by Thursday.

Its dumb when it doesnt work and its brilliant when it does. I guess you got to be 95% to winning a grandfinal before it is likely to work though. Bringing in a couple of roleplayers isnt going to add more than a few percent.
