To Essendon for pick 37.
A great player that probably rode out his playing career more on natural talent than hard work but there can be no denying he gave everything he could for us throughout his time with the Dogs. The 2008 Brownlow medal definitely a highlight - unfortunately the same year he cracked his patella in the qualifying final. It's unfortunate he's going to Essendon but I hope he'll happy playing out the rest of his days there.
He'll always be welcome back to the club.

Couldn't agree more, always loved watching him play and a cruel blow to him when he did his knee.
Not sure why he chose Essendon, but good luck

I still have a chuckle when I see Burger Rings.....:)
Sad to see him go, was a fav. Had his best footy stolen crom him in late 2008.
Great deal for us though.

The greatest what if that I've had following the dogs; could have (probably would have) been anything if he didn't play on that busted knee in 2008.
Good luck at Essendon Adam. Like I'm sure they taught you your first day in Footscray, don't share needles.

Slightly unders but it's not an exact science when the player confirms a preferred club.

WOW. It's like there's been a revolution.
Heads have rolled, blood has been spilt.
The old guard have been sent packing.
The young turks have taken over the palace.
Interesting year ahead. Gonna absolutely loathe seeing Coons in that filthy bomber jumper.
And it's also gonna be awful seeing Griff in that Junk food wrapper they call a guernsey at GWS.
Really sad to see both of them go.
But BLOODY EXCITED about the future.

Ah bummer. I thought we may have kept him. Sad to see him go and sad to have him crueled by injuries all through his prime years. His brownlow season was unbelievable!
It's going to be real tough seeing him run around with the scum.

Apparently it was the 'sponginess of the floor' in their training facilities, and his desire to play under James Hird that swayed it…
Ah, Adam. Hilarious right to the end.

Other than his bursting running goals I loved him winning the tap against Dean Cox in the ruck. Showed he was capable of doing anything.

Wanted to go to Essendon to play for James Hird. Never thought he'd say anything more humorous than the Burger Rings Speech. I was wrong.

Sad to see him go,
Won't forget that quarter in '05 when Will and Coons set Etihad alight with the best tap ruck work and roving I'd seen.
Also, in 2008 who would have predicted Cooney, Chapman and Goddard would one day play together at another club?

A new club could reinvigorate the Coondog (he'll always be the Coondog). I'm almost looking forward to seeing what he can do next year alongside Jobe. But I agree with you in that he might have only eeked out one more year with us.

Sounds like a contradiction to me, he would be probably still be at the club if he gave 100%. Definitely one of those known to coast and do enough to get by
