Gotta say I'm confused in initial reflection of the year. At times this year upon questioning many decisions of the coach, MC & club a line of argument arose that we needed to believe more, be more loyal thinking or get on board with decisions. Some didn't understand or believe in Macca and that he was right. Macca had a sub strategy, positional ideas on guys like Roughy at FB, not playing players Macca perceived not to be doing what he wanted (see Talia etc), team selections, even talking to the media. And so on.
The club has now determined that the person making the decisions, Macca, could no longer keep making decisions. So we're we right to bring in Geelong people, with some of them now leaving? We're we right to hold back players from senior footy? We're we right to keep players in position? We're we right to keep players and the VFL late in the year?
Was Macca right all along as the narrative sometimes was, and that he was all this year, and we cut too early? Or, was he not as right as some proffered throughout this year? Or a little of both? Got to say the defence of Macca at times was quiet forceful when issues relating to decisions or output were raised, and yes some rubbish was thrown around too. The reason for introspection is to see the writing on the wall in future times. Moreover, asking were the decisions of 2014 right and we only need a new mouthpiece to the players, or as a club were decisions this year wrong and we expect the new coach to approach things radically. Interesting to hear what prospective coaches might tell the club also.
