The Western Bulldogs have appointed Luke Beveridge as Senior Coach for the next three years.
Following a systematic and thorough process, Beveridge received the unanimous endorsement of the selection committee, led by Chris Grant and included Chief Executive Simon Garlick, John Worsfold, Luke Darcy and GM, Football Graham Lowe.
The recommendation of the sub-committee was also unanimously endorsed by the Club’s Board. The Committee was assisted by consultants from DDI Australia and by Ms Fiona McGauchie of executive recruitment firm Egon Zehnder and the Club wishes to acknowledge the very valuable contribution made by Fiona and by DDI Australia.
Beveridge has spent the past three years as backline coach at back-to-back Premiers Hawthorn, and was recently appointed Director of Coaching at St Kilda.
Prior to that, the 44-year-old held the position of Development Manager at Collingwood, where he played a key role in their 2010 Premiership, and before that was a triple premiership coach at St Bede’s/Mentone from 2006-2008.
Chief Executive Simon Garlick said, “We had the opportunity to interview several outstanding coaches in this process, and I want to thank them all for their participation. In our judgment, Luke is the right person to take our senior team forward into an era we all hope will bring some sustained success to the Club.
“Luke has built a reputation in the AFL for his ability to forge strong relationships and for his overall strategic view on the game,” Garlick said.
“His vision for our Club and his track-record of driving successful cultures were persuasive to us as a committee and we are looking forward now to 2015 with great excitement.”
Beveridge played 31 games with the Bulldogs from 1993-95, and finished with a career tally of 118 games which included stints at Melbourne and St Kilda.

His approach and game plan will be very interesting. I am sure he has learnt a lot at Hawthorn.
Exciting times with all the young talent.

We live in interesting times, as the saying goes
Good luck, you are going to need it.
Hopefully he gets a strong number 2 and a decent director of coaching to help.

Welcome back to the kennel Luke Beveridge. Good luck.
Only time will tell but IMO with the little knowledge I have of the aplicants Bevo seems to be a good fit for us, hopefully its not a case of him promising success to early and more about us getting it finally right on the way to a flag.
Good luck and welcome back.

I had no idea on who I wanted as a coach but the more I hear on Luke the more I like. I hope it goes well for all concerned.

Feeling decidedly old as Luke's the first coach we've ever appointed who is younger than myself.

Will Montgomery stay ??? The guy who beat him for the job is now his boss ... Can be a difficult situation.
I too wish Bev well; I hope your fate isn't set in stone like your predecessor (never given a chance IMO)

I suppose it depends on Monty's attitude, On CV Bevo has it all over him in senior coaching. As in Bevo has coached his own team and won finals. It may have helped Monty if he had been in Maples shoes and had a VFL final under his belt.
Both are untried so equal type of risk but as I said above one has more runs on the board and Monty should see this.
I agree on BMc I would have stuck with him until his contract was up to see if he could work on his short comings. I think he would have saw it out but the board had lost the faith as much as some of the players.
Anyway I'm on board with Luke and he has some talent to work with let's see if he can build on what's been started.
Agree RM. You can't judge him after a few losses.

And the special tang to this Beveridge is the taste of annoying St Kilda into the bargain.

In fairness it appears they have been nothing but supportive of him pursuing this when they could rightly have felt peeved.

Has Lake become a better under his coaching? Or is Lake in a far better side which makes him look better?

Is it time to buy this man a beer?
In all seriousness what this man has achieved in such a short time frame is nothing short of remarkable. We all know we had talent but to get this team to gel so quickly after what the club went through is astounding. I wonder when he took on this role if he thought he could get the team to be in the position of playing finals football in his first year,

I'm not sure any other appointment could've got us to this point right now. I don't want to think of where would be under the last coach with an outdated gameplan with Dahl playing pocket, Boyd in the middle, Picken in the BP, Wood playing second/third tall, Wally tagging, Grant in the VFL and others lining up to leave. There's so much to love about Bevo, in a lot of different aspects. Got to be coach of the year and I would've given 250-1 to be saying that 9 months ago.
