View Full Version : Innocuous incident -> ACL
Dry Rot

Poor old Libba and what caused his injury (pretty innocuous tackle) got me thinking what an odd injury these are.
So many seem to occur out of nothing - I remember Hahn's mark and just landing oddly.
Any knee specialists out there? Thoughts?

Ryan Hargrave's old man Stece did his runing laps of the ground. He did step in one of the holes left for the.goalpostsb.
He was a CHF.and captain of WA when he came over. He could play . He'd play CHF and KT would play FF. The dream team

Worst thing about that injury was that complete waste of space Vickery was involved.
Could you get a more contrast in endeavour and effort than those two.

Darcy's first knee was the most obscure knee I've seen. Bad news day.

I'm no knee specialist but the basic problem comes down to force. When the leg is planted and the body rotates it puts a lot of force through the leg and the ACL isn't designed to cope with that sort of movement. It's why so many of them happen with changes of direction or during a tackle.

I think people equate the rehab time required with the severity of the force required to cause the injury. Tendons are simply weaker and take longer to heal than say a hamstring

I did my knee changing direction when the footy bounced the other way. Sometimes it's just bad luck.

If you watch the replay, he actually hurt it before the tackle.

Exactly. The incident had nothing to do with Vickery. It was the way he landed and maybe trying to change direction at the same time.

I did mine fielding at point and dived for a catch. Lamest war injury story ever.

Its not that bad my brother-law did his stepping off a tuk tuk in Phuket and was sober.

Did you catch it? Because then it's a cool story.

Like father like son. Hopefully he recovers as well as his old man did.
