What happened to Wally?

Dahl should've gone by hand to Hrovat later in the first, could have led to another shot on goal.

The non-free to Cordy when Suckling blocked his run was poor.

Positive is Webb has looked composed.

That burst of speed by Stringer to get the ball into Boyd was nice. Will definitely be fun to watch him do 5 minutes bursts in the midfield going forward.

As much as the Hawks are dominating, I still feel that the difference is more in skill level and decision making (particularly from contested situations) than endeavour.

Disappointing that Morris and Wallis are injured - the latter especially for greedy Supercoach reasons. Damn I hate injuries.

The defensive intent has been MIA for most of the game. Getting absolutely slaughtered in all areas of the game, and particularly around clearances and stoppages. Extremely unaccountable too.

Our skill level has been atrocious, from Talia to the likes of Macrae - frustrating.

Only positives are Jong and Boyd for mine. A few others are trying hard too but it's been disappointing. Stevens and Hrovat look terrible and I expected much more from both.

Good questions.
yep we are barring a miracle of the ages occurring, going to lose this one. We're down two men in Morris and Wallis.
Right now a win for us today is to win the 3rd quarter and keep fighting hard in the 4th and try to play the game our way.

We have been bashed up by last years Premiers. We had injuries prior to the game and during the game. The boys are doing their best against very difficult odds. Even though we are a player short hopefully we can have a respectable second half.

Unless we get competitive in the middle this will be a slaughter in the second half. We've played some very dumb football and been so sloppy.....need to be much cleaner. Hard enough watching your team getting torn apart but the annoying commentary and inept umpiring just rubs it in.

The numbers for midfielders are as low as I can ever remember.

Picken, Macrae, Stevens, Grant (although he's been brilliant), Hrovat all with single figure possessions.

The forward line has been efficient given so few opportunities, and the defence hasn't been terrible, the midfield just aren't getting their hands on the ball.

We are simply undermanned. The losses prematch to Wood Matthew Boyd and Bonti was bad enough then to cop bad knocks to Morris and Wallis has been overwhelming. We simply need to be competitive. A good effort by Talia to have 18 touches to half time. Webb looks a player with a future. Hawthorn too good and experienced in the midfield with the loss of Bontempelli huge together with the injury to Wallis.

Remi Moses
19-04-2015, 02:37 PM
Need to really dig deep here. Wallis looks like a severe corky to the back .
Morris looks like a shoulder. Midfield needs a massive lift or this could be 12 goals plus.
We need better kicks, as it gets found out in Windy conditions .

Must admit that Webb has looked comfortable at senior level. Not an easy first game to come in and play but he's handled himself as well as any of us could have hoped.

I would like to see him stay in the side for a couple of weeks when we're playing lesser sides and are more competitive.

Four out of our six best defenders out and last week's two best mid fielders.

I'm disappointed that some of the effort is down but we need to be realistic too.

I think it's time to concede on the Ayce experiment though, sadly.

Without Liberatore and Griffen it was going to come, today without Bont and Wally we've really been exposed.

Thankfully Clay is close.

Yeah those 4 would make a huge difference. It's scary how much we already rely on Bonti.

I don't want to rush Clay but we have a few playing through the midfield who just aren't first choice ball winners. They can pinch hit but aren't key pillars

Picken was ordinary last week too IMO.

So many of our players today have been like a deer in headlights when they've received the ball - they've just stood there frozen. Picken has done it a few times, Goodes, Stevens, Hrovat, Macrae too.
