I bet Mission are glad they stuck with us. Their tag is very prominent on Wood's back as he scissors it.

Two minutes that just personify our club motto.

I wonder how our Sydney based WOOF members are today? I'd expect to see some commentary from them a bit later ;)

Very wet but happy. I was not a popular guy in the Swans members area (snagged a seat under the roof).

Dunno if the TV showed how bloody wet it was at times - had some difficulty seeing the other end of the ground at one time.

Also the brutality from both sides. Umpiring was pretty dodgy IMO.

Just rewatching the game - I think it is Huddo about 5 minutes in who says "Easton Wood, doesn't have the spring in his step that he used to". He may have been talking about Crameri but I don't think so.

I can't wait to see the game after that two minutes.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Dahl's courage at about 1.50. Never took his eyes off it and got pole-axed.

Also, can we talk more about the one handed pick up, in the wet, under immense pressure and clean disposal? Because that was just sublime.

It was bloody exciting at the ground, surrounding by Swans members.

Best win I've seen live and probably the gutsiest one by us too. Make no mistake, the Swans were throwing the kitchen sink at us in the last quarter and indeed most of the game.

Mid way through the last quarter everyone thought the Dogs couldn't hang on. 25k people were wrong.

As Luke mentioned in his press conference the belief in the group, the expectation, will rise now.

I'm so happy and proud, these young blokes are driving something so exciting, that means so much to all of us. If we can continue to build, and no doubt there will be some bumps, we are going to be scary good in a few years, but also give ourselves a serious chance at finals this year, where anything could happen.

What a day to be a Dogs supporter. I love this Club.

There are a number of key moments in that final two minutes, of which four stand out.

1) Dahlhaus running back with the flight and getting absolutely poleaxed, but being up and involved again within 30 seconds
2) Easton Wood second and third efforts in the middle of the ground - neutralized the contest, then got the ball, then managed to feed it out to Hrovat
3) big spoil from Roughy in the middle, straight to Buddy who tried to fend off Stringer. This contest more than any other epitomised our day...Buddy, one of the best players in the comp, tries to bust the tackle but Jake would not let him past. Huge.
4) the magical one handed pick up of Easton Wood, with two swans bearing down, and then somehow threading the needle through to JJ

I'll watch that game, and those last few minutes, many many times this week/year.

I think the game has passed Goodes, he is only putting in the odd effort now, nothing like what he was, I can see why they were making him a sub, his speed and jump has gone.
What do we think of Cordy?
I can see why he played instead of Minson this week but next week against the saints in dry conditions against kids, I'm thinking bring in the big body Minson.

He did play a great game and put his body were it needed to be. What would have made it even more special if a couple of times he needed to be less go it alone and pick to better option than having a ping himself.

But in saying that he is the type of player that 90% of the time those pings come of.

We may just have a group that isn't scarred by past failures and that is able to stand up when we really, really need them.

The best win I've seen from a Bulldogs team in my 24 years.

We beat Sydney, a powerhouse of the past 10 years.
We beat them at their home ground.
We beat them in the wet.
We beat them with THE MOST INEXPERIENCED SIDE IN THE COMPETITION THIS WEEK. Including 14 (FOURTEEN!!!) players under 50 games.
We withstood every challenge they threw at us.

I'm still tingling.

Still can't believe it. Teams with 14 players under 50 games are nots supposed to do that. Spine tingling performance indeed.

I have really enjoyed reading all the 19 pages of posts on this thread. Gives me goose bumps to read how excited my fellow woofers are.

So damn proud of the boys for standing up when it would have been easier to relent to the more experienced swans.

We have ourselves our scary good team here woofers. This is the toughest team i've seen wear the tri colours and it happens to be the youngest as well.

Great to see we are not irrelevant anymore. Maybe they will spend more than 30 seconds talking about the bulldogs on footy classified this time!

Sat in the concourse (half a dozen rows back from the fence) at the Randwick end and got soaked but well worth it. The intensity at the footy was great to watch and you could hear some of the hits.

When we got to 31-17 up at quarter time and the rain started to get heavier I was quietly confident that we would be very hard to pull back.

Just watched the last quarter again.

If we can expect that level of commitment, intensity and ability to execute in a cut throat final, we're on the way to flag number 2.

Easton Wood was just immense, and I was super impressed with Hrovat. Just handled it cleanly and was prepared to run hard. JJ also won some crucial contests, including one on one against Tippett that he had no right to.

Attended the game and was almost a lone Bulldog in the Churchill stand.

Sat next to a very pleasant lady who was a Swans supporter, with a strong British accent.

Early in the 1st quarter I called for a holding the ball free against Sydney and was assailed by the Swans supporters. My pleasant supporter beside me simply said "your brave".

The Swan supporters were continually complaining about the umpiring and I said that home supporters usually expect 70% of the frees but Sydney apparently wanted 100%.

Stood and sang the song at the end of the game and was then abused by a supporter 3 rows behind who claimed we didn't win it was just the umpires who got us over the line.

When I was outside the ground, it seemed that every Bulldog supporter wanted to high 5 or acknowledge every one wearing the colours.

Was just a great sensation.

That's what I love about the team at the moment, there are so many players who their teammates can trust to put their body on the line, bring maximum effort to the contest. Hrovat, Honeychurch, Smith, Jong, Wood, Dickson, Picken, Boydy - they're all just competitors.

I think one of the best things about the win is that this is a style that stands up in finals. Ok the stakes weren't as high but the intensity was September-like. We weren't found wanting at all, yet with the youngest team out there in round 5 against an opponent who specialises in these contests.

I don't think I've seen such spirit for a while. Their emotion as they sang the song and the spontaneous group hug afterwards suggests a very united group. I wonder if it's been a real blessing, some of the guys who've moved on.

It was a special special win, and maybe one we'll look back on as the day we saw our next premiership team emerge.

Brakes his hand and then immediately spikes the ball with the same hand in the ruck contest. Big fan of Jongy even though there were a couple of Koby handballs in his performance on Saturday. At one stage he actually apologised to Macrae after a handball led to Macrae being body slammed by Pyke.

I went up from Canberra to the game with my daughter. Been reading media etc all week so not had a chance to post. As others have said an amazing win and amazing to be there. The thing I noticed at game was we were the ones who were composed, made good decisions and took our chances (although not all of them as Bevo said). Especially that last quarter it was obvious how tired we were and they were gonna run over the top of us. But they didn't. We held firm. Brilliant.

Leaving the ground my daughter (age 7) and I high fived and practically hugged every Doggie fan we came across. They all looked the same as us - stunned, stoked and proud to Be More Bulldog.

I noticed it against the Crows, how quickly our boys would make good position. Any team that hesitates and plays slow football against us will struggle, it's fantastic to watch.

It wasn't just the last 2 minutes either.

The Swans goaled to take the lead with 10.58 remaining on the clock. Everyone was expecting the Bulldogs to be over run, as the Swans had done all the scoring to that point with 2 goals 3 behinds for the quarter. That was just short of the half way mark of that final quarter.

However, the determination and tenacity of the Bulldog spirit was so resilient, that not only were they able to turn the tide, they denied any further scoring for Sydney.

Just sensational.

Yep, watching the replay last night noted Jong doing that immediately after breaking his hand, huge effort.

Can't fault anyone in those last few minutes, it was intense and willing, it was deep September like, and everyone was out on their feet.

On Hrovat, his last quarter was great, but I have noted a couple of errors with his disposal the last few weeks, made a couple of errors on the weekend too, either with his disposal, or choosing to play on immediately perhaps when he shouldn't have and then taking the wrong option. I'm putting it down to having missed a bit of footy and struggling to find the intensity but I hope it isn't a trend as he was a sharp user last year.

I noticed it against the Crows, how quickly our boys would make good position. Any team that hesitates and plays slow football against us will struggle, it's fantastic to watch.

It's been around all season, although deeper in defence.

Watching the Richmond game I was impressed with how well we set up to completely limit their options in the forward half of the ground. If we could slow down their entry, which was helped by Honeychurch and Dickson forcing safe sideways disposals from their opponents, we would set up in such a way that they were either forced really wide or had to keep chipping around using Chaplin or whomever.

The other thing that's really happened often this season has been when one of our players has a mark or free kick another will come and block the man standing the mark to allow us to gain further distance.

I have noticed we do this a lot and we also play on regularly from kick-ins to gain the extra 10 to 15 metres for an opportunity to get over the opposition defence.

It seems to help our ball movement a lot.

It is quite apparent isn't it. He appears to be rushing too much in his eagerness to move the ball on. His vigour is unquestioned but he will need to continue to work on his composure as his efficiency is hurting us. Youthful exuberance touched with a lack of experience.

Roughead comprehensively winning the tap to advantage, against Pyke, at the next bounce after the Easton Wood goal was incredibly decisive in this contest. He got it to Jong who got it to Stringer for a shot at goal. This incredibly important moment with about 5 mins to go should not be underestimated. It could happen in a final. Had Cordy been there the overwhelming odds would have been that the swans would have won the clearance and put our defence under siege. Roughead should be our number 1 ruck imo.

I agree, he has been bursting out of his skin and probably lacked composure at times trying to up the anti. however credit where it's due, his composure in the last 10 minutes was quite incredible for one so inexperienced. JJ likewise.

Agree that he's been unusually ineffective and panicked lately but thought he really turned the corner against Sydney. He was outstanding in the last 10 minutes.

I think Hrovat is just a little rusty and has lost a little bit of game sense. He will be fine and I like the fact you can see him thinking through the game. He very much reminds me of Sam Mitchell in that way.

After watching the replay I thought Koby was massive on the weekend.

I just got to watch the game today and I can't believe Dahlhaus wasn't in everybody's votes. He was just everywhere, all day.

Who are you kidding? We are all suffering from something akin to "won-the-lottery-and-it-unsettled-my-world" syndrome:)

I watched this game today and I had forgotten who played. Surprised to see we had Talia and Roberts in the backline, plus Ayce Cordy, Roughead rucking, plus Tom Boyd up forward. We went in with a tall team, I guess to match Sydney. As it turned out it was a very wet day.

Great game in the end and a game that made us believe in ourselves - a real turning point for the club
