In part two of Sons of the West, Bulldogs Captain Bob Murphy opens up about working under Senior Coach Luke Beveridge and the emotional roller coaster of beating the Swans followed by a narrow loss to the Saints a week later. Beveridge also speaks about his early days at the club and anointing Murphy as captain.

I can't help but get emotional watching these fantastic videos with Bob talking about the Club.

Amazing .. Seems this club is a family, this is different from anything I've ever seen before, tight nit, in it together, striving to do something, striving to be winners.

Better than some the very average stuff there was from the club in the last few years. In fact, incredibly better and whomever is behind the change in tact needs a pay rise when the club earns more money.

I'd kept my shit together about Clay until I watched that video. If you can watch that poor bloke crying as he comes off on the stretcher, and then his face as he hobbles through the rooms, if you can see that without shedding a tear you've got ice in your veins.

Great insight into the very fabric of what two men have brought to our club through Bevo's appointment and Murph's captaincy this year and also the hope they have for the club's future.;)

To me it showed that Murph is just an ordinary dad that can eat Macca's with his kids, when he is not being our captain Bob.

This is such a well presented clip. You get a sense that we are at the beginning of something great. Murphy comes across as a ripping bloke that would be a pleasure to play footy under his captaincy. As for Bevo, he has integrated with the club beautifully.

Murph is just so comfortable in front of the camera......it's like a performance. Electronic media must be lining up for this bloke's services once he retires in 4 or 5 years time.

I watched an ESPN 30 for 30 film last night, 4 Days in October, about the Red Sox breaking the curse. Got me excited for the day we break ours, and it would be so fitting if it coincided with this video series.

This was phenomenal.

I want another Year of the Dogs, and I hope these insights are leading to one. I had a discussion with a mate about the way we follow football, and he told me "I don't care about the players, I care about the club" (he isn't a dogs fan). I couldn't imagine following football any differently, and pieces like this both intrigue me and sum up how I feel about the game.

Have you ever, ever seen a club captain be so open, so candid, about what goes through his head?

You could feel the genuine struggle in his voice talking about Clay.

And then his daughter whispers in his ear and gives him a kiss, and it's all better again.

I've got a daughter around that age and I can say with absolute certainty that a kiss from your daughter fixes absolutely EVERYTHING.

I feel very emotional after watching that. This Sunday will be the last time I see the Dogs play for two years while I'm overseas, and more than anyone else Bob reminds me of why I love the club so much.
We have a very special trio leading our club at the moment.

In particular the last few minutes with Bob talking about Clay, about accepting a loss and moving on/not getting carried away - and sitting with his daughter.

We should all be humbled by the fact that Bob is our Captain. He just gets footy and what it means to the rank and file. We need a new statue.

I've been fawning over Bob for years, not all about his footy but him as a person, he is a very calming trusting normal person with great morals and insights in life, whether we fall in a heap or not Bob is a very special person regardless.
This clip gave us more an insight of him.

Certainly very well liked in the media and a good representative of the club.
But at the end of the day, it's his decision making that is his greatest quality. Smart footballer, in all areas of the game.

But you only get respect in earnest as a coach, if you get your team to play finals footy. Very early days yet.
