Bob Signs On

Western Bulldogs Captain Bob Murphy will play on next season after agreeing to a new deal this week.

The 32-year-old put pen to paper on a contract extension that will see him lengthen his career into a seventeenth season.

Murphy has produced career-best form in 2015, averaging 22.7 possessions in the first seven games and ranks in the top ten across the AFL in kicks, rebound 50’s and bounces.

List Manager Jason McCartney said Murphy’s intention to play on was welcome news.

“It goes without saying that Bob is such a key figure at our football club,” McCartney said.

“His on-field performances have continued on at the highest of levels, and his leadership has been first rate.

“We are proud to call him a Bulldogs player, and are excited about the prospects of our team under his leadership.”

The 2011 All-Australian, who was announced as Captain at the end of last year, has played 278 games for the Club since being drafted with pick 13 in the 1999 National AFL Draft.

Welcome news. I still dream and hope that Bob is there for a Bulldog flag. Nobody loves and gets this club like him.

With our kids' improvement well ahead of expectations and Bob not tailing off in form I'd like to believe that the greatest of footy fairy tales will be topped off by Murf with a premiership medallion..it's possible. Isn't it???

Now that the " Hate of Origin " as certain sections of the Sydney media dubbed it is over ( yes there were sections of the crowd that booed Griffen , not too many chances with only 10 disposals ) we as a Club can just get with building on a great season so far .
Mr Murphy is in AA form and the move to Captain has lifted the Club upwards and onwards to a better brighter future , he is an inspiring leader and the younger players have bought into his passion for the Club and the jumper .
