Just having a look at the Bulldogs Website, Membership figures are starting to rise. We are just under 10,000 Members, hopefully there will be a massive rush before Xmas to further boost the tally before the new year.

If any of you see an update, feel free to update the Membership figures here when they are available.

We can keep this thread happening until the cut off date. In following years we will be able to draw comparisons.

What's the difference between members & match day members?

What's the difference between members & match day members?

I'm guessing my 3 month old who is baby member, doesn't count as a match day member.
All of those sort of under 5 memberships, that aren't proper kids admit to matches ones, I'd say.

I'm off to English class for some learnin'

How are we going compared to this time last year?

Not to sure but in early January this year it was about 17000 or so.

We now have 9991 Members signed up so good to see almost 10,000 with just under a month to go till Xmas.

It would be good to see a flurry of new members sign up, I am going to buy two extra for friends as a Christmas present they will be 'first time members'.

New update...

We now have 10,901 Members.

I would think that figure will increase significantly this coming week with the free scarf offer available till Nov 30 and the full page Membership Ad that appeared in the Herald Sun today.

I found this in an old BF thread:

As of 30/1/07, membership was 18,353.

I can't find an earlier tally.

Is it the same as the 2006 & 07 one, just with 2008 on it?

The photo in the magazine brochure was the same as the previous years with just the new year on it. I fired off an email to the club after the membership survey suggesting they come up with a different type of product (such as a calendar) in the future to reward members who sign up early. Hopefully, they will take it on board.

Membership is going to be absolutely crucial this year. given our surplus of late, it would be a disaster is we slipped back into struggle mode with 22-25 thousand members. We need to ensure our membership stays around the mark.

Historically we are a fickle supporter group in the way we support our club financially, I hope we don't go backwards, but alas I feel as though we will slip in this area.

We cannot afford a f*** up like last year, it will make all the hard work off field become redundant.

i agree, it is worrying,

this time last year we were all full of hope and excitement, a great season, aker joining the club, everything was peachy.

This year it's different, a terrible end to the season (6.5 out of 7 losses at the end, and they were bad losses) some club in-fighting, assistant coaches leaving, Grant retiring
Not a lot of positives coming out of the kennel of late.

Although i think we've drafted a couple of good kids in grant and ward (local boy will generate positive interest) a new proven ruckman as well, coaching now looks settled apart from 1 major position, and the redevelopement is looking great.

If we can mantain the same membership figures this year it will be a success in my opinion

Spot on. A repeat of the thrashings over the last 7 weeks of 2007 will be a disaster that we might never recover from. Ww cannot afford to dip below 25,000 members.

Slight whinge.

I'm on "auto renew" for my membership and so are my two sons.

For the last two years one of the sons has not been "auto renewed"

I rang the club today, most helpful and apologetic, they fixed it on the phone, but i wonder how many other people may have seen this as an opportunity to not bother renewing?

Yeah, happened to me too. All fixed, but the whole idea of auto renewel was so you didn't have to do anything.

I upgraded - and they have already taken the payment for last month for the new amount and then today I get a letter to say my old payment amount was not on my credit credit for debiting (I only use the card as for bills and membership - so only load it as I need it).

So maybe they think I am 2 people?

Hey Max, ring Rowena at Membership, she will fix it up for you. Imagine that, 2 Max's is that a good or bad thing? ;)

LostDoggy

Yep, same happened to me. I just assumed that I would have the money deducted from my credit card on the said date, as that was what I thought I had given them authority to do previously. I would only have to raise a sweat if I did not want the same deal or wanted to cease.

When the money had not come out a week or two later, I looked on the website and worked out that I had to put all my details in again.

If this has happened to others who are too busy or borderline, they may not bother renewing. Every single membership counts!

Auto renewal should mean just that. And not me being told I would be renewed but not really.

Hey DR, Unfortunately, the best I could get datewise was around the 8th Jan 07 and we were sitting at 17,332. So if we can get another 2668 members before then we will be infront.

My contact at the Membership Department tells me that they have been absolutely flat out with the Memberships coming in.

Great numbers but I wonder how many errors have been made? SEN had a few disgruntled supporters mentioning that the club didn't process them right.

People get a bit touchy about these things, I know that they can cause problems, but to give the club a bad name after a few mix ups over the radio isn't a good way to show how much you love the club. We had a small mix up and gave the club a ring and they fixed everything up on the spot.

DG38, it happens to all of the clubs not just ours. Everyone reacts differently, whilst one person cops it on the chin and doesn't make a fuss, another person might feel slighted and annoyed or another person might be the type to crave an audience or public sympathy. All have different ways of coping with their dissapointment after all it is their money they are spending. But I see your point one call to the club usually can rectify the situation.

We were doing very well this time last year also, earliest figures I have is for 08/01/07 when we were sitting at 17,332. So will be interesting to see where we are situated this time next month another 2,100 to reach 08/01/07 figures - hopefully, we can do that before Xmas.

In the yearbook it says we have 9,000 auto-renew members.

I assumed that this time of the year nearly the whole 15,000 would be. To me, this makes the tally look even better.

On the 08/01/07 we had 17,332 Members at the moment we have 15,657.

We are about 1,675 members short of the Jan 8, 2007 total. The way we are going at the moment looks like we will reach that target before then.

The 15,657 figure include non-matchday memberships (Born a Bulldog, Kennel etc) that do not count to our "official" membership figure. I think the figure of 14,897 is a truer comparison.

A club employee told me on the weekend that we are about 340 short compared to the same time last year. If we keep this up we will not finish that much lower than the final overall number - would be a great result given those last 7 weeks of the season.

Yes PI, the match day Membership figure is the more comparative one - it is the better one to use. We are doing very well at the moment, hopefully it will keep increasing in the lead up to Xmas and beyond. :)

Which is pretty good IMO considering the performance on the field in the second half of the season. For us to break our record we need to start off well in the NAB cup and win the first few in teh regular season, give some supporters hope and that will bring them back.
