This is the round 14 edition of the Weekly Bankers and Anchors Thread. Once the game against Carlton is concluded post your nominations for:

The Bankers = 3 guys that you we banked on to do the right thing during the game
The Anchors = 3 guys that weighed us down by their errors or poor play

Please limit it to no more than three of each, but feel free to make honourable/dishonourable mentions. As usual try to make it constructive criticism.

Try and restrict it to individual players rather than aspects of the overall match.

The thread is named in honour of a popular WOOF Contributor, The Banker, who passed away on 22/04/2012 after a six month battle with cancer.

Bankers
1. Caleb Daniel, first gamer who as the sub really was the catalyst for getting us going in the 2nd half
2. Boyd. 250 games and tonight was as good as many of his best.
3. Wallis and Picken, both unassuming but both super effective for 4 Qtrs

Anchors
1. Look he had a good game overall, but a few areas of his game need to be improved if he is going to rise above just being an honest accumulator.
2. Our 10cm handballs...that finds the receiver under more pressure than the bloke who gave it to him. We keep doing it and it predominantly leads to a critical turnover. Koby does it heaps but he's not the only one. Surely the coaches must have talked about this to the players?
3. Honeychurch his game was very poor tonight blew goal opportunities off his own boot and and just seemed off the pace

Bankers:

1. Caleb Daniel. What a start, he'd have racked up 30+ if he played all game. His tank is amazing. Ran everywhere and never hunched over.
2. McLean's creativity and flair.
3. JJ's pace.

Anchors:
1. Stringer. A few nice goals, zero otherwise.
2. Not playing to the situation. In the first half we tried stubbornly to play our quick-flick-around game and it killed us, yet we persisted anyway.
3. We beat Carlton so I'll let this one through to keeper.

always right

B:
Daniel.....what a great effort to be such an influence in your first game
Stevens....has really stepped up this season
McLean....shame he injured his AC. We have a beauty here.

A:
Honeychurch. No idea why he was elevated when his Footscray form was just okay. Didn't even give us forward pressure tonight.
Stringer. Loved his goals but lost count of the times he played from behind.

1. Two Stringer goals - he is a freak when gets a chance

2. Daniel sparking the team in the third quarter and his great goal.

3. McClean = Rising star performance.

Anchors

1. Dickson - Shocking game - some of his kicking was just awful

2. Honeychurch trying to dribble a goal through from 10 metres out

3. Macrae's kicking into the forward line - gave no one a chance to mark it or even get anywhere near it.

Daniel - great debut

Wood - especially in that first quarter

M Boyd - had a good 250th game

Anchors

Our 2nd quarter

Our use of the ball at times was very poor and frustrating

Bankers/ Caleb Daniel, what an outstanding debut.
Getting rid of Jones for that pick
Boyd , thought he was brilliant
Winning ugly , as I didn't expect we'd be able to be allowed the run and gun style all season.
Better get used to it folks, as coaches are there to stop your strengths.
Anchors/ Stringer, he has to get more consistent
Injury to Mcclean /was playing very well.
The second quarter/ thought we got a little lazy and played sub standard footy.

1. Caleb Daniel - what a debut...in everything & and was a big part of the second half turn around

2. Dale Morris - played most of the game with a suspected broken jaw - great courage

3. Matthew Boyd - Best on Ground in his 250th

No Anchors this week out of respect for the Walsh family

B.
Matthew Boyd - congratulations on this and every one of your 250 games.
Toby McLean - another ready made AFL player, great recruiting.
Will Minson - another strong performance, belies the criticism her gets in this forum.

A.
Honeychurch contributed very little IMO.

B:

McClean - rated his game very highly, had him in my votes. Saw the light in his head switch on just before he took the hanger on the wing... "hang on a minute, I am actually better than all these blokes"

Daniel - strong debut, score involvements in a game where we struggled to find someone to make things happen up front.

Boyd - great goal and timing from the veteran.

A:

Redpath - 2nd half was good, 1st half was a not. Love him but the tactical aspects of senior footy seem a bit of a hurdle. Missed his chance to hit the scoreboard. Turned things around late in the game with some good running and aggressive play, not sure it was enough.

Roughie's injury - thought we were a bit hamstrung by it, took the Club a long time to make the call to sub him out. We played a man down for quite a while.

Goal kicking - struggled to do enough of it and enough of it well.

B:
Toby McLean - well played young man.
Caleb Daniel - another who looks very comfortable and assured with the ball in hand.
Koby Stevens - has quickly become a consistent, and increasingly important part of our midfield rotation.

Bonus banker for the whole side getting around Daniel when he kicked his goal. Love seeing that sort of stuff.

A:
Honeychurch - not his best game, but I hope we persist with him again next week
Injuries
Efficiency - not sure where it's gone but we've struggled to get value for money with goals from our F50 entries and our ability to lock the ball in, create a stoppage and score from that seems to have fallen away a little bit (might be wrong, just my impression).

Daniel- Gave us the spark we badly needed in the second half.

McLean- Took some nice grabs and was smart around the ball.

Repath- Really liked his game. Presented well up the ground, showed strong hand, and was one of the few forwards presenting as an option to kick to.

Anchors

Injuries- Looks like we picked up a few

Murphy- Torched the ball line you rarely see.

Just hanging in games, feel like a belting is coming.
