A pretty good result for us - a nice early game on the Saturday that will allow the team to get back to Melbourne on the Saturday night at a reasonable hour.

I was expecting the early Sunday game! Great result.

Surprisingly flexible of the AFL to programme 5 Saturday games.

All the likely Top 4 teams are later Saturday whilst the likely 5-8 teams are all Friday night or early Saturday. Fair play to the AFL, couldn't be fairer.

Bet the AFL were expecting Coll-Ess to be the blockbuster when they did the initial fixture early in the year, now it's the Sunday dud, whilst we were programmed at the Gabba as a Vic team certainly missing finals, who could be consigned to the meaningless Sunday matches.

Man I'm loving this season.

Lol @ the sound of 100,000 Collingwood fans realising that they wont make the 8.....

GWS got a raw deal

I guess the AFL have calculated that GWS (and Collingwood) are least likely to still be in contention come R23, which seems fair enough to me.

Gee that 1.45 timeslot in late August is going to knock it out of us. I suggest we send up the VFL team if our ladder position is irrelevant.

I was thinking the same in terms of heat but we can't have it all. Very happy to have the 2nd earliest time slot. Also, you must factor in the opposition. With all due respect, the Lions are crapola and will take less lot of us than any other side.

Plus they might be eyeing off first pick in the draft:)

6 actually. They only had 5 last year, but there were more games where both sides were outside the 8

Yes true they are playing like witches hats so hopefully we come through unscathed.

Richmond ain't going far in finals, if they serve this up!

That game tonight showed how Richmond can be stopped , and if Norf had better personnel playing I dare say they would have won.
If these two do tango next weekend the pressure is going to be extreme, and the loser is going to have the blow torch treatment .
Richmond need to win a final, and Norf are in the "now" stage for a flag .

You really have to stop Richmond from hitting up the short, pressure free kicks and allowing them to release the player running past. They get so much drive from hand ball receives from 15-20m marks.

I think our team defence will handle that ok.

Apologies to Roscoe, but I really hope it's a Tigers v North rematch next week and Tigers run all over them. I hold the AFL partly responsible for making me think this way, and after looking forward to going to last nights game with a mate in town from O/S it ended up being a pretty average contest after half time (as expected).

It would actually be great if Sydney somehow lost today and North had to fly over there to play them in week 1.

More importantly, I think we can account for both Richmond and North.

2 yrs ago Freo rested the bulk of their team in R23, got flogged by 12 goals against a hopeless StK. The next week, in finals week 1 they beat Geelong at Geelong on their way to a Grand Final appearance. I wouldn't write them off on today.

Looks like Keiran Jack (possible ACL) and Isaac Smith (likely MCL) have serious knee injuries - terrible timing.

Pretty much every side this week was a feeder competition standard to be fair. But good on him, hopefully some confidence can spur him on again.

I gave Redpath 3 votes this week. I thought he brought a lot of energy to the contest including a few midfield clearances as ruckman and his contested marking was good
