Watching on TV (missus was out, had to mind the kids), this is how I saw it:

1. Wallis - now must be considered one of the best midfielders in the comp, dangerous when resting forward too.
2. Dahlhaus - Wallis's partner in crime
3. Boyd - the rock.
4. Bontempelli - it's the quality of the possessions that counts.

4. Wallis - did everything today, such a leader, so versatile, so efficient.
3. Dahlhaus - works, works, works.
2. Grant - stunning early and loved his initiative to create that big turnover when Melb were on top.
1. Picken - Thought he was super when we were struggling. Suspect his teammates rate him way higher than the general football community.

Hmm, difficult this week...

4. Dahlhaus. Still hasn't reached his ceiling.
3. Wallis. Just a machine. With the greatest of respect to our current vice captain, this bloke must surely be the next skipper.
2. Hunter. Just keeps getting better and better.
1. Boyd. For proving to Jeremy Howe that is possible to take hangers AND be able to play football.

Grant was BOG when the 'contest' was decided in the first half. He was quieter in the 2nd half but I place much greater emphasis on what happened up to half time. Just on Grant, his improvement in the last couple of months has been surprising and very pleasing, although my cynical side keeps thinking it is because he is out of contract at season's end - still, it looks more sustainable this time around compared to his burst or form late in 2013 (it has already been longer this time around and not just scoreboard-related).

I agree about Grant's importance in the first half, well stated. However, you've got to be kidding yourself, 'BOG and career best because he's out of contract'. That is an urban myth. This is the highest stage, if he's not performing because of it, then the Bombers have a good culture.
You must be confused by his looks and take him for an alien.
