I'm giving it a thread of its own.
Of all the things I didn't know Matty Boyd could do until this year, taking a massive hanger is right up at the top of the list.
Discuss.

I think we were about 12 goals to 0 up at the time. The game was already blissful, but that moment edged things towards the surreal.
No wonder we were flat for a while afterwards, it was just too much.

Package that mark and his sprint goal against the Tiges in 2008 (?), and he'd look like Cyril Rioli for 20 seconds.

How good was that passage of play by stringer on the Hawkins wing? He put on a show, a freak show none the less!
I got my membership money's worth right there, can't wait to watch the replay tomorrow night, may need some quiet time away from the missus and kids....... ;)

Keithy wouldn't look that much like Cyril Rioli no matter how many hangers he took.

His hangers showreel won't be taking up too much of my data limit but what ripper of a grab! A sure fire sign we were flying. Followed up with a great tackle.

I thought it was before our last rise up. My favourite goal ever (equal with Bonts one) despite forgetting the year.

How time flies. We will be saying that when Bonts is 30. Assuming the Internet is still a thing then. :D

That was the first time I'd ever seen one of those goals.
It seemed odd at the time, but it's common now.

You could also add his tackle in the second to the package.

Yep. I was out of my seat at 100m to go. Record wrapped in my hand like a jockey waving it in fron of a horse, jumping in the air every few metres. Pretty sure I hugged a stranger too. On equalled by Bonts pocket goal. That was fun just watching it again.
always right

Far and away the best tackler in our team. The benefit of developing a hard AFL body over many years.

My favourite is the tackle he put on Dale Thomas some years ago and I loved his goal against Geelong where he was the only player in our forward half

Mine is him stealing a ball off a Sydney player who went to handball after a free kick and then running down to kick a goal.(still amused the ump never payed 50m)

The other day I was looking at a Stats table of Bulldogs players since 1965 (when proper stats were first collected).
Over that period, Matty Boyd, is our #2 ever possession winner, both in totals and average per game.

Well I remember a patch maybe in 2011-12 where he would get 30+ possessions a game and just butcher it. He's probably my favorite player on our list, but I used to tear my hair out at some of his decision making. Doing much better these days.
I'm not sure possessions are always a reliable stat.

Of course possesions don't mean everything, but when a player has the longevity and grunt to be your 2nd greatest ball winner over a 50 year period, it's a fair testament to his quality.

Longevity yes, and consistency. How guys can pay 200+ games of AFL in a career is beyond me, especially in the midfield.
