Must be played in Melbourne. Must be at Etihad. Must all attend to see a new banner behind the goals, the first jumper number 2 to join the certain club of players that have banners there.

Good to hear Crofty finally getting his due.

Here's a sad stat for Dogs fans.

There are 11 players in history who have played 300 games with no GF appearance. Of them, 5 played all of their first 300 at Dogs (Grant, West, Johnson, Smith, Hawkins) and another 3 a lot at Dogs (Dempsey, Round, Quinlan). Looks like Bob will make it 9 of 12.

John Rantall?

Was going to say Sam Newman but I think he might have played in their loss in 1967.

Rantall played in a premiership at Norf but I'm not sure who the third is.

I'll have a crack with Ian Nankervis , he didn't make the team in "63 and pretty sure he didn't play in another in his time.

Correct guys, Murray, Nankervis, Newman (did play at Geelong in 67 but didn't make GF team).

So, Bob is scheduled to play game 300 against Melbourne at the MCG. I hope we will the joint.

We don't play at Etihad until three weeks later for the unfurling of his banner behind the goals with the rest of the 300 club.

We also get the pleasure of seeing Saint Nick reach this milestone in rd 2.. The joy.

The AFL should make sure Shane McInernay is one of the officiating umpires on the day to make sure that Saint Nick is appropriately celebrated

We could see a world record for the number of frees paid to one player in a game of AFL.

May as well just forfeit the game and save everyone the effort. That's the humane thing to do.

Also Roughead, Wood, Dahl and Crameri should get to 100 games, and if Wally plays all year and two finals him too. Minson is 11 off 200. This changes our profile a bit next season obviously:

300+ - Bobby
250+ - Boyd
200+ - Morris, Minson
150+ - Picken
100+ - Crameri, Roughead, Wood, Wallis, Suckling, Dahl
50-100 - Lots

Looks like the profile of a team a year or 2 off challenging for finals (unless exceptionally talented) :)

By the end of three more seasons:

200+ - Picken (if around)
150+ - Crameri, Roughead, Wood, Suckling, Wallis, Dahl
100+ - Bonts, Stringer, Macrae, Liberatore, Stevens, Dickson, JJ (nearly),
80+ - Boyd, and fringes like Hrovat, Redpath, Biggs if they cement themselves, and then all the other pups that come on
50+ - Zaine and Any draftees from this or the next Draft

Add in a couple of free agents or trades of players between 100-200 games, and it's a list in two years that if it stays together will be around the top for a good spell. By my guess that core would have 5-6 seasons towards the top of the ladder assuming they play to potential.

Maybe in 3 more seasons, Bob's still there at 350+? :)

You never know.

Only half joking about 3-4 more years. He has that kind of wiry physique all the long termers have (400 club; Michael Tuck, Kevin Bartlett, Dustin Fletcher, Brett Harvey) and his obvious love of the game, club and teammates means that mental burnout shouldn't be an issue.

Just show all the previous ones on the big scoreboard. Him crying in Brisbane and taking a dive against us in the PM should feature prominently.

Looks pretty good until you realise Stringer is the tallest player after Roughead to have 100 games under his belt by then

Isn't the Bont taller then Stringer?

Looks like Bob definitely has at least 2 more years. Hopefully that's two more finals series.

Correct, I overlooked that as I was thinking of our spine. Roberts, Hamling, Z Cordy, Redpath & T Boyd have a few years to go yet before they will be at their peak
