Geelong great Paul Couch has died aged just 51.

The 1989 Brownlow medallist is believed to have suffered a heart attack.

Wow. I am 51. My dad had a heart attack when he was only 6 or 7 years older than me. It damn near killed him. I don't reckon I would survive the same as he got.

This was a shock. Growing up in Geelong I had the chance to watch a lot of Couchy. Very good player when he was on his game and was very active at schools and hospitals throughout the Geelong region. A real community man and a great Geelong person.

Is Brad his son or nephew?

Do you mean Brad Crouch from Adelaide.

RIP couchy.

Such a good footballer. A good old fashioned rover.

Died way too young.

Tom Couch is his only son

The kid Melbourne drafted?

I'd better go and tell my son that Brad isn't Paul's son like I told him at dinner time. He usually fact checks everything I tell him anyway.

sad news. Taken way too young.

He was a fine player in what was an excellent team.

RIP.

RIP Couchy. If my memory serves me correct Paul worked as a garbologist in his playing days to get as fit as he could. Be sorely missed.
