What for?
Suspect it is to expose the jumpers for another week so we can sell more of them. Or possibly as a goodwill gesture to the artists after their contractual conflict with the AFL.

I don't mind - we are rewarding local artists in the Ballarat community and fostering the relationship in a meaningful way.

If you had I told me 12 months ago that this time next year Easton Wood will be our best and fairest, All Australian and captain of our club, I would of told you in no uncertain terms to go and.....

I am pleased to have Easton as our current acting captain. He seems to be growing into the role more and more each time he plays. He has become such a good player for us and such an important player as well.

Met Easton at the cheersquad end of year do last year, had a bit of a chat , kind of shy quiet guy, seems to have come on a bit since taking the captaincy.
He certainly has a family of leaders and achieving, will only get better as he gets more experience in leadership.

Dale is such a great bloke. He is hoping his arm comes good ready for the finals. Would be great to have him available.

Spoke about 8 bones he has broken over the years, not including nose and ribs. He is so tough, his description of what happened after he broke his arm, and the doctor pulling his arm to put the bones in place - wow.

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
02-08-2017, 08:36 PM
He is an amazing person. We are so lucky as fans for Dale to be a part of Bulldog's history.
I really can't think of another player who has shown as much fortitude and resilience, just to even get on an AFL list, much less then play for 12 years with as much dedication, selflessness and commitment from week to week to just do whatever is required for the team. And every game has always been played within the boundaries of the highest ideals of fair play and spirit.
Tonight he gave every impression of a man who thinks he has more to give.
I'm inclined to believe him.

If ever there is a bloke who would be worthy of a spot on a list, just for the ability to nurture those youngsters around him and to be available to do a job when required its Dale.

I've seen more talented Bulldogs in my time, but I've never seen a more dedicated and selfless one that embodies all those traits that we admire as people, let alone footballers.

Kath Loughnan filled in when Gerard was calling the Olympics and I thought she did a pretty good job keeping Robbo in check.
For some reason, and I don't really know why, she annoys me when commentating on the cricket but that might have something to do with Mark Howard.

I doubt they'll bring in one of the lady commentators on a permanent basis.

That says all we need to know about Robbo.

He has been on the show for 14 years which in itself is an amazing run, so to not be capable of being respectful in a farewell appearance is piss poor.

He's a highly emotional guy and has some difficulties in keeping his thoughts to himself. I don't blame him for opting out but the viewers that appreciated his style and humor will feel a bit slighted. I wonder if he could have done a pre-recorded farewell speech.
I think the show has made the right call in moving him away but in reality it's at least a couple of years late.

It would be an interesting pairing because I've tended to avoid Garrrie Lyon as much as possible because I don't like the Watson and Lyon dynamic. The same goes for Maher and Gaze as it just doesn't work. Maher and Murphy worked really well.

I really rate Dunstall and find him great to listen to.

Its interesting how we instantly think of what ex footballer would suit the show but its worth noting Robbo is a journo and I think part of the show is to get a view of what's going on behind the scenes and break stories rather than just pure analytics. I think Kingy and Joey do a great job on the football analytics and would love that to be brought forward to Monday nights rather than the standard rhetoric from the coaches.

Yes and Robbo is more of a fan of the game than anyone else in the media. It's always felt like having a representative of the supporters there on the panel. I'll miss that, and his opposing dynamic with Whateley. Can't see myself going back to the show next year, it won't be the same.

I was well over his taking his glasses on and off , waving his arms around while ticking and reading things from the herald sun.
Robbo rambled on about nothing most of the time and was half tanked in some shows , he definitely had a huge opinion of himself .
Whateley always stayed on the fence like he was afraid to go against Robbos ramblings, the times he didn’t agree Robbo would jump down his throat.
He would suck up to guests but a week before was berating them .. eg the Bevo episode.
Stopped watching it. I feel I lost brain cells after every episode.

Opinions of his performance aside, his health has got to be a real concern. He was sporadically missing for lots of the year anyways.

There might have been a bit of "doctors orders" approach in the decision not to renew him (positive spin) or "we can't go through that again" (negative spin).

Who is the next most Robbo-style journo? There's not really anyone like him left - they're all just newshounds who want their name in lights. I don't watch the midweek tackle which is hosted by journos - does anyone stand out on that?

I think they should be trying to continue with having the 'fans' voice, not just another ex player like Lyon or Buckley or Montagna who will peddle the same lines every week. Robbo was the common man and that was his appeal.

Robbo just got too pantomime and stopped using consonants. It went on for a lot of years and after fourteen on the desk his time was up.

Posters saying he was at least human, are exactly right. But the AFL and the ****ed up media don't want humanism. They want the smallest amount of vanilla rent seekers with the odd shock jock (Cornes, for example) carrying the same shit from Sunday night through to Thursday night selection, so they can keep enough people watching, listening, and clicking without having to pay for diversity in talent.
