If you were on the Bulldogs match committee what changes would you make for our round 12 2016 match against Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval?

As always a brief explanation for your changes would add a lot of value to the discussion.

Stretch them with Tom Boyd?

Nah. T.Boyd needs a few weeks in the vfl to get match fitness and get form as a forward, to push either Roughead, Campbell, Redpath or Roberts out.

Based on the form of Roughead, Campbell, Redpath and Roberts neither deserved to be dropped.

I feel weirdly confident about this game. Port don't defend at all through the midfield, and we not only have very good players who require defending, but are also very adept at not giving up chains of possession that Port need to get going (read: defending). I think we beat them easily.

If McLean can't go then looks like Honeychurch is in, and Wood comes in (probably for Williams; sorry kid), but otherwise no change.

Bevo stated in the presser that it was very minor and he was a good chance to play this week - Have you heard otherwise?

LostDoggy

Port Adelaide are playing very small lately. They have Westhoff and Dixon up forward and Trengrove as the only ruckmen.

Roberts and Adams would take Dixon and Westhoff which would leave Morris and Wood (if right) to play small on Wingard and Young who have been dangerous.

Their 2 key defenders have played just a handfull of games between them.

Our midfield runs much deeper. On paper we should have them covered.

Wood and Honeychurch in
Mclean and Williams out

"...acting skipper Easton Wood will have to sit out Saturday’s clash with Port Adelaide after incurring a minor hamstring strain in the lead up to Sunday’s win over West Coast." (http://www.woof.net.au/forum/showthread.php?15787-Clay-Ready-to-Go)

Happy for them to play it cautiously with Wood with bigger fish to fry down the track.

This should be a good test for us. We aren't renowned for be a great traveling team but we don't suck at it either. The hostile Port crowd can get the better of some teams if they're not careful so I hope the boys can block it out. The best way to block them out is to kick goals.

Port are coming off a good win over the Pies so their confidence will be up. I wouldn't be surprised if they try some dirty tactics to try get into our younger blokes heads. In saying that Jonas is still suspended so the instigator can't instigate. We must bring our best footy because Port can be tough to beat at home.

Is Jong back from suspension? He could be a sneaky chance. Although I would love Honeychurch to get some reward his good form at Footscray.

Any chance that Hamilton could be in the mix to replace McLean ?

We need to see what he can bring at some point and this looks a good opportunity in front of family back in Adelaide.

Stevens is definitely one that needs a game in the magoos before facing the heat of an AFL match.

He's a bull but his decision making is iffy at best, and when he's a few % off the pace, it's diabolical (see GWS game). No shame in finding some touch at the lower level before coming back up.

Time to reward one of Honeychurch or Webb for consistently dominating at VFL level.

Yep, HC for McLean,

I've been there the last couple of Adelaide Oval fixtures and we haven't been very competitive.

Time to turn the tables, a few over here suggesting we cant play outside of Melbourne, exposed form is correct as we have lost 1 out of 1 interstate so far against GWS, however, by far less than the Hawks and Port.

Presuming T Boyd's match fit (and I get he might not be in which case the argument is irrelevant) I think he should come in. Reality is he's a young key position with a lot of promise who we need to get game time into. Paton, Sicily, Taberner, the whole Lions fwd line, Ben Brown and the list goes on are all young to youngish key fwds who are at best patchy at the moment but their clubs are playing them to get them closer to their peaks. Tom needs games to continue his development so I reckon, as long as his fitness is back to ok following injury, he should be being played.

We lost by 4 goals against contenders on their home patch. From that game we gain Adams, M Boyd, Redpath and Suckling and lose Wood and Stevens. Should be a fair bit better.

It is historically a game I think we'd normally lose. It will give us a better understanding whether we are at the coal face or just ticking along. It won't be your casual interstate team flat track beat up like we have at home. Good test because they've hit some form.
