Melbourne might also have a sneaky chance against Sydney.

The loss of Tippett is huge and puts a lot of pressure on Sinclair to contain Gawn.

Brisbane are certainly struggling but West Coast have a vulnerable look with their ruck falling back on Giles.

Tonight's one of those cant lose games that I love as a neutral.

North gets done and they're further exposed as pretenders.

Hawks get done and they potentially fall back to the pack.

Can't stand North however, and my smug side is kind of glad they're feeling the pinch. Everything has gone their way so far this year, time for their luck to go awry.

North trying to be physical with Hawthorn.. Interesting to see how it plays out.

Love to see Firrito get filled in.. Not sure I've ever seen him have a dip at someone of equal size.. Loves being the school yard bully.

Majak Daw no possessions to half time. Thomas gave up a crucial goal. North missing with regularity. Loved seeing Norf lose like that. One thing they're good at is acting like tough guys. Have no respect at all for filth like Firrito. More respect for no nonsense players just wanting to win and hard at a contest rather than push and shove BS off the ball. It was funny watching that last free on the replay. The tackle gets the North player UNDER his armpit and all of a sudden his head snaps back. Deserve to lose if you want to do stuff like that.

It'll be that head high to cantremembernowfornorth deep in Hawthorn's forward line with 21 seconds to go. If North had got the free they would obviously have had plenty of time to get the ball forward and kick the winning goal. Instead the free went to the Hawks they kicked a goal and it was all over.

Hawthorn don't scare me anything like they used to. I think we have their measure and really started to open them up when we played them earlier this year. We were 20 points up at one stage and had them by the throat.

The thing with Hawthorn is their level of professionalism and self-belief, it keeps them in the contest but there is no problem scoring against them and if you take you're chances they're very beatable. They have been kicking groups of goals in bursts as well and are playing pretty inconsistent footy throughout the duration of a match and can go long periods without getting much of it and without troubling the scorers. North dominated them last night with Waite, Higgins, Swallow and Cunnington out of the team.

I actually think we can beat anyone and if we get across the line with our outs tonight the pot will be bubbling.

On the other hand, if we lose (shhh) we could drop as low as 8th leading into the Sydney game (given we have a bye next week and the WCE play before us in round 15).

Interesting to hear Brad Scott's presser - apparently he accused the umpires of refusing to award Lindsay Thomas a free kick because "he is a ducker". The AFL is investigating. (That carpet is about to get lumpier at AFL House - it'll be swept under like the Talia investigation).

What a complete schamozle. Caught out in a lie their official explanation is that Brad Scott got told the result of a miscommunication between a staff member and a player about an umpire saying they weren't going to pay frees to Thomas? Then at the press conference he states this miscommunication to the media as something that a player told him an umpire told the player out on the ground. So to summarise Scott was happy to question the integrity of all four umpires to all the media despite the fact he hadn't actually confirmed what he'd heard from the prison who originally said it.

You can't help feeling that North aren't being much clearer in their explanation.

Like B4L said I am so glad he isn't coaching us. Hope he comes nowhere near us in the future either.
