Red locked in

June 21, 2016 6:15 PM

Power forward Jack Redpath is the latest in the line of Bulldogs to recommit to the Club beyond the 2016 season, signing on to the end of the 2017 season.

The 25-year old has been in career best form since overcoming an offseason hip complaint, becoming a crucial part of the Bulldogs' forward set-up, averaging 2.5 goals per contest.

Redpath joins teammates Lachie Hunter and Shane Biggs in recently extending their current deals to remain at Victoria University Whitten Oval.

Speaking to westernbulldogs.com.au, Redpath said that he is determined to repay the faith the Club has shown in him since he was drafted as a rookie in 2011.

“I was given an opportunity by this Club to play AFL footy, and after a few injuries, and now to be playing some good footy in the firsts, it’s a good time to be around, Redpath said.

“I feel like they gave me the opportunity and I feel like playing a bit of good footy is a little bit of a repayment for the support they’ve given me through this little journey of mine.”

It’s been quite the journey for the imposing Kyneton-born forward, having recovered from two knee reconstructions to become a part of a premiership winning Footscray side in 2014, to one of the most promising big men in the competition in 2016.

“If you had of told me when I was 20-years-old and I was working that in five or six years’ time I’d be playing AFL football, I probably wouldn’t have believed you.

“It’s nice to lay down at night and feel like you’re wanted at a football Club, especially [a club] like us and where we’re going.”

Redpath said that while the security that comes with signing a new deal is nice, he did feel the need to keep the news from his biggest fan: his Mum.

“I didn’t tell anyone for a while, and then it was my older brother and then I just let it filter back to Mum, because Mum is probably a little bit more excited than I am.

“So if I’ve had a long day, I don’t really want to have Mum screaming down the other end of the phone at me.

“But she was pretty rapt and so was all the family.”

Barrett would talk him off our list if you let him. Then he would arrange someone else to pick him up cheap and write a feel good story about it.

Cue Barrett questioning why Red only signed for one more year.

Here I was thinking this would be a story about DB as a defence force cadet.

He was saying on the weekend that Redpath could sign with another team because of Tom Boyd's contract. Apparantly no other club pays their players more than a million dollars a season!!!!!!!!!! And all our other players are going to leave because TomBoyd gets more than a million dollars a season and Tom Boyd (who is getting more than a million dollars this season) will have to play all 18 positions at once by himself. But Tom Boyd will get more than a million dollars a season to play those roles*

*unless it's one if the later years of his front loaded contract which will pay substantially less than one million dollars

I see he's finally had a crack at Scott saying he should have been suspended .
Brayshaw and the Grub work at Triple M. Interesting confrontation coming up
Has he got any more " exclusives" of events that happened a decade ago ?
