Would be a lovely result. If Hawthorn drop, along with 2 of WCE v North and Geelong v Sydney also losing, we should firm our position up nicely this round, should we do the right thing and dispose of Richmond.

I think that is a requirement, but we certainly need to be ON from the start.

Yeah its been quite a few weeks since we won a game comfortably. I think Melbourne was our last easy win. We've had some tough games since but would be nice to build the % now against the weaker sides

Well apart from Brisbane and Essendon, you get the feel anyone can beat anyone on their given day. But we're approaching the pointy end of the season so we need to start handling our business. I also don't know how many more close games my heart can take!

Talk in the media this week about how we launched our season last year by beating Sydney...when in reality - we actually lost the next three!

I hope we are not flat after having such an intense game last week - and so many players second up from a spell.

Hawks get the NBA 'good team' treatment. Every 50/50 call goes their way, especially forward.

A blind sided umpire just claimed to see the ball hit the ground rather than pay a mark to Westhoff. Westhoff then fired up a little when it wasn't paid and was penalised for abuse.

Rioli's just given away a free kick for too high whilst taking the hanger of the century, drops it, Bruce still gets pants off and complains about it not being paid.

The game's a silly game.

This is the most embarrassing spectacle I've seen from an umpiring group in a very long time.

The AFL's a disgrace.

bulldogtragic

Is there a game of footy tonight? The movement around the umpires of guys dressed like footballers is ruining this marvellous spectacle of umpiring. And the crowd is too loud for some of the whistles, and they're being blown really well. Great umpiring. Just amazing stuff.

It's amazing what you can do to Port at home when you get 25% more free kicks than they do, rather than less than 45% of what they're awarded.

I honestly don't know why the media or anyone would continue to make excuses for Port Adelaide. They're supremely ordinary.

For some reason they escape the scrutiny they should be subjected to. They get a great home ground advantage, the lot. They should be better.

In the modern age of footballers having to smart to learn systems, it's good to know there's still some really dumb ones around.

Agree on the media excuses of this mob, they've got no real excuses but keep avoiding the real heat which is long overdue.

And the umpiring of Hawthorns matches is now farcical.

Their ball movement is poor and their distribution is poor off half back.
They're a bottom 8 side, full stop .
Koch and Thomas have no idea to be honest .Theyve lost more games than they've won since mid 14!
Hawthorn are going to finish one or two (sadly) Clarkson was right in what he said about port .

How does Hodge get the preferential treatment he gets. He seems to have umpires bluffed. He also had the Port players bluffed.

His knee into Boak was a clear premeditated act, that did not even result in a free. He clearly showed intent and other players have been suspended for much, much less. I guarantee it won't even be considered by MRP.

When did stats in a AFL game, a game played only in one country become 'world records'. I understand the literal use, but its bloody stupid. The sooner Macaveney has to go to Rio the better, and perhaps stay indefinitely.

What do you mean? The Geelong player was standing up right, faced the Boundary line, and kicked it sideways or narrowly backwards, with force to ensure it went over. Throw in every day of the week in the 1890's.

Actually, and I can't believe that I know something as stupid as this off the top of my head, the field umpire punched the ball back into play like a volleyball service and the ball had to hit the ground before it could be touched by a player. They didn't have boundary umpires until 1904.

Next pub trivia I go to better have this question, now it's taking space up in my pea sized brain. Still the most obvious deliberate out of bounds in the game's history, and for some reason Ling argued the point...

The curse of the Orange Plastics strikes Collingwood and Travis Cloke. Nothing out of the AFL about Cloke's glove over the last few weeks, but as soon as the AFL's love child is vanquished >>>> the glove is banned and the Pies fined.

Wouldn't be surprised if the AFL called in Collo to invent a rule that would cause the Pies to forfeit the game and hand the Great Waste of Space the 4 points.

Watching AFL 360 the other night, they spoke about Cloke. My wife asked me, is he allowed to wear gloves. I said to her depends if they are sanctioned, but we both agreed, no one should wear them unless they have an injured finger and it is oked by AFL medical.
