3 things

1. I can't recall such a year with horrible injuries, almost every week.
2. You can be paid holding the ball when not in possession.
3. Tom Boyd showed some good signs tonight, but needs to be spending more time forward since we insist on bombing it all game, every game.

1. Thanks to the boys for an entertaining game, against all odds.
2. Cordy is a player. Like him.
3. Tom's three goals were important. He did a lot of good things, but his defensive work is a bit lazy. But well done.

1. You can be penalised for HTB when the ball is beside you.
2. One of the Cordy brothers is better than the other one.
3. There is no God.

1.The team didn't lose any respect tonight, they gained it.
2. Dangerfield is a seriously good player, the rest are flogs, especially the hero Duncan.
3. F injuries.

1. To quote Cometti you're only as good as your reserves, was a reserve .
Injuries just murdering us
2. Our effiency going forward needs to improve . Far to much bombing
3. Scotts carry on in the box is embarrassing

Best game he's played for the club . Really showed good signs

1. Zaine may be best 22 and is genuine key position height. I think he keeps his spot over Roberts when Adams returns
2. Stringer should be moved to the midfield for the rest of the season. He's struggled all season up forward, might as well release him with all our outs.
3. We look so much better when Boyd is forward, it's a waste having to ruck him

1. If Dangerfield had limped off halfway through the second quarter and Libba had played on it might well have been a different results. *!*!*!*! you footy gods. WTF have we done to annoy you?
2. I'm not as annoyed as I usually am
3. My son can yell a lot louder than I remember.

2. Bartel is seriously overrated.
3. 2016 sucks.

1. I hate beards, especially Bartel types
2. Geelong is a bogey ground - played 55 games there and won 13 times since 1941
3. I find it hard watching games like that on TV

Only referencing the lazy reference. I thought he worked his butt off tonight, marks down back, lots of hit outs and getting to good spots up front. For a young kid, he was given a huge workload and I'd suggest fatigue over any laziness.

1. Too late for this year but if Gia is the forward line coach next year, he must together with Bevo and other assistants, work out a better forward strategy over the summer. This one stinks and will not win us a premiership.
2. Geelong's coach Scott was renowned for bumping players on their injured shoulders when he played for Brisbane. I have no doubt that he instructed his handbaggers to do the same with Jake.
3. Geelong supporters rank up there with Norf and St.Kilda supporters for being the most hated in our household.

1. The result was better than I was expecting.
2. Roughead can't be relied upon to be a main ruck. He spends half of every game on the bench with an injury.
3. Boyd can ruck but we're better when he doesn't. Bevo needs to sort this out.

Three things:
1. Hamling struggled up forward and isn't really a forward
2. That we still could surprise a few this season despite our injury setbacks
3. Tom Boyd will be fine.

1. Bontempelli is going to be the hardest, toughest, but also most damaging player in the competition very shortly.
2. Tom Boyd may just be a back to the wall player - after being belted around all week that was a huge statement.
3. BT may have been right about Zaine, first time I've seen him play and felt he can be a player at this level.

1. Just when I thought Bonti had shown it all, he shows a bit of mongrel on Selwood. Loved it.
2. Zaine and Tom should have drunken fights more often. Really impressed with both tonight.
3. 2016 was never meant to be. I'm gonna stick with the regular God because the footy gods have forsaken us.

1/ I was hoping for the type of performance.. Nice that we stood up for ourselves.
2/ We are a long way from a finished product, but the signs are there.
3/ The time is coming that we will beat up on these pricks.. But that time can't come quick enough.

1. Great experience for the team to play the way they did against all odds. Loved the aggression showed by some players not normally noted for it
2. The bright side to our bad run with injuries is getting to see more of our talented list eg Cordy last night
3. On the flip side, it also helps to expose some players who find it hard to perform under pressure which makes it easy to work out who we keep/let go at year end (Jong, Stevens, Hamling)

1. It is hard, but not impossible to run out a game with the type of personnel issues we've had to deal with. Unquestionable drive and guts from FFC. It's is the most significant feature of this squad, relentless effort.
2. Geelong get away with murder. Selwood is allowed to rewrite the rule book to suit him. umpires ignored half a dozen blatant pushes in the back, it was befuddling stuff from them. I noticed Greg Baum from The Age on Twitter was very critical. It isn't something I tend to bleat about, but I learned that it wasn't just my biased view last night.
3. The banner is a real oddity of the game. I helped the cheer squad out last night and it was interesting to see the interaction between a concept like the run through and modern things like stadium management, risk policies and procedures and TV. LONG MAY IT STAND AS AN IRRITANT TO THISE POLLUTANTS OF THE GAME.

1. Tom Boyd responded in the best possible way to the garbage being said about him. I loved Bevo's comment in the presser "I look forward to going to his 21st". Just reminding everyone that he's only bloody 20 years old. Rocked for long periods of the match and ended up with 3 goals, he'll be alright.
2. The injury toll to our players has put a huge dampener on the entire season for me. The footy gods are only pretend yeah, I really need to know because these injuries are beginning to look suspicious.
3. Roughead isn't a number 1 ruck. We need to find a way to morf Minson and Roughead into one person. Minsons ruck work and Rougheads around the ground marking. Seriously though with our midfielders now getting injured we need first use more than ever.

1. Zaine Cordy could be a first 22 player.
2. Dunkley is now more than a get experience into him Thursday night pick.
3. Tom Boyd is starting to look confident about the status he has come into the game and then into our club with.

1. JJ has plenty of upside. Still not back to taking the game on as he was early in the year.
2. Selwood plays to a different set of rules yet has the gall to spend half the match whinging to the umpires.
3. People are quick to write off the usual suspects without taking time to understand the roles they were asked to play last night.
Stats don't tell the whole story.

1. At long last our MC resorted to playing our best midfielders on the opposition's best,eg Libba on Dangerfield and Macrae on Selwood.
2. Our tough physical attack on the ball is having an adverse effect against bigger stronger more experienced opponents .
3. Stevens, Clay Smith and Jong lack the class needed in the midfield.

1 - Bevo is more adaptable than I thought. He's avoided using tags since he has arrived but last nights were working well. Full credit to him and his assistant coaches.
2 - We've experienced injuries to players before and of course used them to explain poor performances but losing two more quality players last night still didn't stop us putting up a spirited performance. This speaks volumes for unity and trust within this playing group.
3 - We have to address some of the gaps in our playing list mainly around finding a mobile and versatile 2nd ruck option and a key defender. We are just a player or two away from being a great side.
Confirmed not learned - Tom Boyd just needs to be given some time to mature, the media comments on him are just so far off the mark

Brave and spirited performance. However...
The elephant in the room for me all season is the actual game plan. We play the game as a war of attrition. Far, far too many hard- earned inside 50's entries for too little reward. Its a style not sustainable over the course of the season to end up top 2.
Opposition simply set up a flood in defense and wait for us to bomb and turn it over. The hit us on fast counter.
We can criticize Boyd, Stringer, Dickson. but these guys hardly ever get a clear run at a low hard pass.
Its not a personnel issue IMO.

Do you think with the way the ball is being delivered inside 50 he will ever reach his potential as the gun KPF? (thats what we got him for, wasn't it?

Is it our forwards or the blokes delivering the ball? We all get frustrated when we bomb the ball long but how often do you see our forwards leading at the ball carrier?

Its both forwards and mids that are responsible in equal measure.
And the forwards hardly ever spread to take a defender with them and open up the forward 50
Given its been a season-long pattern, it HAS to be something being done by design and intent. Who does the buck stop with?
As an example about, Geelong last night had a tactic where they would kick long straight out of the middle to give Hawkins and their talls every chance to win in the air. That isn't something the players came up with ad hoc.

We are all playing the forwards so high up the ground, not really much space.

Given I'm not on the coaching panel or close to the club I'm only making assumptions, though the bombing the ball forward after slow transition is the plan as far as I can tell.
If we are moving the ball slowly then the goal is to get it as deep as we possibly can and either create a scoring opportunity, or give ourselves time to set up our high press and constrict the opposition with the view to building pressure and causing opposition errors. The idea with the latter is to create a constant sense within our opponents of being under siege.
In the opening rounds of the season this approach was supplemented by piercing run and ball use from our half back line, which created clean opportunities with some regularity. Now we've lost Bob, had JJ, Adams and Wood out injured for different periods, and patchy form from most within the defencive half at various times the frequency of quick transition and cleaner opportunities for our forwards has reduced.
The better teams know how to slow our midfield down. North did this extremely well (as did Geelong first time around, and in the second half last night) by not crowding the ball carrier - which is what we want - and instead concentrating on the receiver of the second and third possession away from a contested or loose ball. The result is haphazard kicking forward under pressure and territory gaining long bombs.
Even when the opposition isn't doing this to us we have a tendency to over use the footy through the middle, or plainly use it poorly and without regard for the predicament of our team mates. This creates a huge amount of uncertainty further afield affecting player positioning and movement, and allows the opposition to get cover back.
As for our actual forwards, well, we don't really have many who can be considered specialists in that area of the ground. They don't move to the right spots and don't move often enough. Gia (our forwards coach) was excellent as a player at finding space in crowded areas and also hitting targets in crowded areas. I refuse to accept his preferred strategy is the long bomb, so I'm concerned that he's being overridden by a team strategy or isn't able to communicate a message thoroughly.

1.If we can ever get somewhere close to our best 22 on the park for a fair chunk of a seson we will be unstoppable.
2.Our endeavour ,persistence, and fighting spirit can never be questioned.
