Hey guys

I was over at my Dad's place the other day and he gave me his old autograph book that he had signed by the players in the 50's. He's pretty sure he got it done in 54. It's in bloody good nick and I was chuffed to get it from him. Thought you guys might appreciate it!

As far as I can read there is:

Arthur Edwards x 2
Herb Henderson
John Kerr
Charlie Sutton
Ron McCarthy
Doug Reynolds
Roger Duffy
Jim Gallagher
Don Ross
Brian Gilmore
Ron Stockman
Angus Abbey
Harvey Stevens
Wally Donald x 2
Jack Nuttall
Alan Martin
Ted Whitten

That's 17 of 20 premiership players. Missing is:

Peter Box
Dave Bryden
Jack Collins

There are a handful of other names. To the best of my ability I can make out:

Tom Jones
John Westacott
Lionel Ryan
Alan Trusler
Lionel Ollington
Ron Porta
John Barrett
Bob Slater
Joe Ryan
Norm Charles
Eric Beitzel

There are a few I struggled to make out, here's what I think they say:

C Scanlan x 2
Andy Craig
R Cowper
Bert Oliver

Has anybody got the senior list from 1954? I guess identifying those extra guys would start there.

I've googled the players.

The third list is names I couldn't clearly make out or who didn't return a hit.

I had no idea.

He started telling me about it at lunch and then went and fished it out of the drawer. I was looking and telling him how fantastic it was and he told me to keep it.

I told him he should keep it but apparently I'd been stitched up as he and my step Mum had already discussed that I should have it.

Great surprise and something you can keep and hand down as well in years to come.

The first VFL/AFL premiership is a cherished one. By the time you are at a stage to hand it down we will have many more premierships.:)

Amazing. Wouldn't look out of place in the Bulldogs museum.

Brilliant EW, your Dad certainly knows how to cap off a Premiership year.

Can you believe he didn't want to come to the GF? What a madman.
