I've been trying to get info on reports from Bruce Eva on 3aw tonight that Murph might be announcing his retirement on Wednesday. Could someone please tell me there's nothing to see here and move on!

I've been giving it a lot of thought and can only really come up with two things.

1, He has had a setback, which at his age would be disastrous.

2, a) He has spent majority of this year almost coaching and knowing his character doesn't want to burden the group with making next year all about winning it for him. We all know the way the Media works and they will make the entire year about him and not the team regardless of what the Club says. It could have the potential to shift our focus or set us up to fail.

2, b) Our Ambassador of Quan has looked into his crystal ball of Success and has seen what future hurdles we face and sees that having Murphy beside him again would have greater upside than having the great man on the park and watching him trying to carry the burden of trying to repeat perfection.

We may not see it now, I certainly don't but we could look back in 12 months time and look at it as another astute call....maybe? For now I'll hope it's wrong because I want to see just how good we can really be and he definitely makes us better.

To be honest from what I have read it's the press .. Basically hear veteran retiring, let's name them all.
They love getting social media speculating. When in fact it's their job to tell us not us tell them .. They are self indulgent,

Hopefully not but tend to agree with the first point Rooner made about the injury setback. It would be a shame but yeah it doesn't surprise me with the media nowadays. Murph deserves his 300th but if he doesn't get there and calls it quits before then we need to give him a big send off and make sure we look after our veterans.

I saw and spoke to Murph two weeks ago at the Rathdowne Street park. He said he is moving out of his house in Carlton so won't see me at this park anymore, but was def on track for 2017!
