View Full Version : The AFL players rate their top 50

There are 15 more players to be named (top 15) and still not a single Bulldog in the list. I'd be shocked if Bontempelli doesn't make it, but it seems plausabile a few of our other players such as JJ, Boyd M, Dahl aren't going to rate a mention.
Are we being underrated? Or are we just such a well-rounded, non-positional side that individuals are thought of by us highly because of the sum of our parts?

Does the atypical AFL player even watch footy?
We have an even list, but when Essendon have 4 in the 16-50 zone and we have none it doesn't seem right.... But winning a flag seriously decreases my care factor with these lists anyway.

Considering most AFL boast that they don't watch football at all, then this list carries very little weight.

They have named players who didn't even play last season !
Might as well add whitten Barassi etc

I think they are going on perception and reputation.

I thought either Dahl or Libba might be in the top 50. JJ even.

I'd certainly have any of those 3 over Zorko, Cripps, Lewis and quite a few others

Up to number 10 and still no dogs players, so it must be Bonti and nobody else. How on earth did we win a flag with such an ordinary list?

And Hurley over Stringer lolz
or am I just being 1eyedog?
Will Bont be number 2 or 3? Danger, Fyfe, Bont or 4 behind Ablett?

Nathan Burke did all the votes.

The Bont has come in number 5, ahead of Pendlebury 6, Josh Kennedy (Swans) 7 and Ablett 8. Selwood is 4 with the top 3 still to be revealed (Danger, Fyfe and Buddy).
1 player in the top 50.
I know these things don't matter - but seems ridiculous that ALL of Morris, Libba Dahlhaus, Macrae, Stringer, Wood and Johannisen missed. Would have thought at least a couple make it in.

And Picken. He's been a top 30 player in the competition the last 2 years. Could almost mount an argument for Dickson as well.

I guess as far as small forwards go - not many around have kicked 90 goals in the last 2 seasons!

Libba a big part in the first 2 highlights, too.
Great to see him included, but like others can't believe we didn't get another single player in. Oh well...

100% Doc.
Let them all underate us.
It clearly worked for all the other 17 teams last year!!!

And no Easton wood or Matthew Boyd or Jack Macrae. It's actually very interesting because this is the players choice. They really do underrate our list. Even though article after article proclaims our list to be one of the best, if not the best, in the league. We really should have about 5-8 players in that list. Very interesting indeed.

Highlights that most players have no real idea and just follow the individual hype.
For mine
Bont
Libba
Stringer
Macrae
JJ
all belong in the list.

You could mount a case for Dalhaus, Hunter and Murphy too, Jobe Watson is in there FFS.

Couldn't agree more Doc, happy just reaping the team rewards.

Would take The Bonts easily over all of them.

In the annual AFL Captains survey 2 of them have picked us to miss the 8 and only 1 thinks we will make the grand final.

That's crazy.
I can see Bevo using this as a bit of motivational ammo, given his comments from the season launch about disrespect.

The question was which other club will make the Grand Final, implying your club will be the other contender. So it couldn't have been Bob that picked us
14 picked GWS, the other 4 all picked different clubs so we were equal 2nd

Doesn't include your own team.
So 1 out of 17 captains thinks we will play in the grand final.
And more importantly, TWO think we won't even make finals. I get the media and the general public being silly and taking cheap shots. But for 2 captains to think we won't make finals is very surprising to me. Thanks for lighting a fire under our bellies you two. Won't be any hangover now thats for sure! WOOF WOOF it's a new season. Here we go again!

At a stab I'd say Sydney's Josh Kennedy would've picked the Bulldogs.

Mmmmmwwwwaaaaahhhhhhhhhh ;);)
Our very own Johnno had Sydney and GWS playing off in the Grand Final and Nick Riewoldt winning the Brownlow.
Surely he is taking the piss.

Daniel Talia was filling in for Tex Walker. There's one.
