Vernon Banbury, Hugh Buggy, who used to write for the Footscray Mailwrote a long piece about him. He was a super star in his day. There is a street namef after him in Seddon I think

Georgie Bissett. He's a good friend of my parent's and when I was younger he would show me all his scrap books of his playing days and tell me stories when we would visit. My parents tell me he was a terrific player. I'd love to travel back in time to watch a few games of the little legend.

Should have won the Brownlow but was robbed by the VFL system.

Me too. Alan Hopkins said he was the best Footscray player he ever saw. He was a hopeless alcoholic though which lead him to make some poor choices in life away from the footy field and ended up being banned for life from the VFA for bribing a Port Melbourne player.

I have quite a lot if newspaper articles about Banbury but not the one you mention. Hopefully it's on Trove.

I don't think the street is named after him. I'm pretty sure it's Bunbury st with a 'U'

Charlie Lovett was the bloke who went around Footscray and signed the 50 members we needed to qualify to join the VFA. And I think his brother died from injuries he suffered playing for Footscray.

A few others for me: Charile Sutton, Gary Dempsey, John Schultz, Simon Beasley

Grant and Liberatore early on would have been cool to see was only a few years old in their early years at the club.
