With the club on a high, can we top our home & away record attendance of 68447 (vs Richmond 1974) this Friday night? With it being round 1, perfect weather predicted and the Magpie hordes full of foolish optimism, is it a chance? Or even the record against the pies of 67,920.
Records against other clubs are definitely there for the taking this season.

I think we will.

MCG estimating 65,000.
It will be hard for them to estimate because Dogs members don't have to buy a ticket, they can just rock up and use their memberhship.
yeah I think it will be right down to the wire in terms of our biggest H&A crowd ever. I'll say we do get there by a few hundred.

Every chance I think. 80 plus for mine. I can't think of one supporter of either club that I know who isn't going.

I'll be going along with my Collingwood supporting brother together on the train but will be sitting in our own spots at the ground :) one of us will be happy at the end of the night and the other not so happy.

Why don't you sit with your brother?

He likes to be in his reserve seat at the Pies home games so can't really go in there. Will probably meet up at half time or something.

My condolences to you. Your brother being dropped on his head as a baby and rolling down an embankment of a rubbish tip to become a magpie. Unfortunate. Best of luck to you on friday night my fortunate friend . Hahahah

I think 70k is a possibility which would be a massive atmosphere. Anything over 50k is. Likely high 60s though.
Anyone give Collingwood a sniff?

Amazing how certain numbers click into your mind when prompted, another for me is Richmond's postcode when checking a guest in from there.

I do! Although mind you, I am the biggest pessimist I know when it comes to the dogs. I love being proven wrong by them.
I think we'll win, but just.

I think it will be close, but I don't really get the barracking for high crowds. It's not our home game. Wouldn't you want it to be quieter so parking, seating, queuing for food isn't so bad?

I give Pies a sniff, especially if we start slow.
However my positive alter ego says we will win by bw 3 to 6 goals, with a crowd of 61,016 (the last 4 numbers are significant reminders of our last glorious outing at the 'G). Cloke to play a blinder and kick the sealer half way through the 4th.
I think there will be quite a few neutrals attend so actually would not be surprised if we go high 60's or possibly break into low 70's.

I'll take exposure to massive crowds at the G anytime. Priceless for our players.

I think the crowd factor is under-rated. There's little doubt we were the 23rd player at Spotless during the PF and GWS do not get exposure to big crowds so 100k at the G booing them may just provide our players with a leg up. Anything at everything counts.

yes but we had only ever won one VFL/AFL Grand Final prior to last year. :D so these records will just keep on tumbling.

Unfortunately I will not be back for Friday's match. Things have been delayed and I'm still getting things packed up. Hopefully I'll be back for Round 4. I still have to get a new full membership and decide on a seat since Etihad just opened when I left Melbourne in 2000. I've been on all levels during my trips, but have no idea where to sit for an entire season. No more staying up all night to watch us play on my computer. However, I'm going to have a similar problem watching Cubs games in Melbourne.
Go Doggies! Enjoy the match!

We are pulling big crowds nowadays and it's awesome except when I am catching the train home and I can't move !

Mostly dogs on mine but I had to stand up and nothing to hang onto .. No room !
The plus was I had women grabbing me everytime the train jerked, they apologised and my response was no problem your all welcome :-)

66k is a massive amount of people. It was good for our players to play to a crowd that size. Funnily enough that's the smallest crowd we've had in our last 3 outings at the G.
We're going to make a hell of a lot of noise to welcome the boys back next week. Can't wait.

I must say I was disappointed with the crowd. I mean didn't they get around 75k members last year? Round 1 Friday night I felt there wasn't as many as I imagined being there.
It looked like we may have just as many and seemed to be louder.

A lot of pies supporters losing hope with Buckley I would imagine . No success in a few years and nothing to say they will be in the future .. Supporters will drop off if they can't see improvement.
Also the club problems during the week indicates alls not well inside.
If you don't give hope and a good vibe leading up to the first game supporters will drop off until they see positive signs .

It was Friday Bogan Bingo night last night (serious). Consequently approx. 20k Collingwood supporters were otherwise engaged.
Thought the crowd felt/sounded like two-thirds Collingwood supporters. I don't see that as a negative to be saying we may have had 22-23K supporters at an away game.

First 2 rounds the crowds for our games have been excellent but especially significant last night being a home game.
