Inside 50 efficiency

This is a big problem and something that has not gone away. In the 1st half on Friday night we were decent up there but after that just terrible. We had 3 more inside 50s than the opposition yet kicked only 5 goals to 16 and our goal kicking does not help either it's been woeful. We seem to get it in there enough times for no reward so what has to change?

Speed of ball movement. Our running and skills have dropped off, so we're playing stop/start footy which allows the opposition to get numbers back. We've also been going in short which means we are easily outmarked

I think we are struggling on a few fronts here.

1. Set shots, they've been shocking all year and much more noticeable without Dickson cashing in as regularly as we need. I feel like we just aren't giving the skill any respect. It might be that where we are taking them is the more difficult areas, not sure.

2. Playing the percentages. Too many kicks inside 50 are going to the 45m - 35m range. That's not deep enough. If you are going to turn it over I50, the high percentage thing to do is gain as much territory as possible, or score, so the opposition have to go the length of the ground before they can hurt us. The kicks into 50 aren't deep enough, the kicks inside 50 aren't on the goal often enough.

3. Joe the goose. Apart from Redpathon return, we aren't getting many easy goals out the back. A lot are under pressure, or speculative kicks in traffic. Not a bad thing, but in the absence of Joe The Goose, the misses rack up.

How is the stat "efficiency inside 50's" compiled?

Is it just marking inside the 50?
Is scoring a goal after marking inside 50?
Can a defender have efficiency inside 50's stats? OR is it only the forwards stat?
