Hawks v Sydney Interesting. Franklin drops Hodge with a swinging arm, very late. Nothing there according to commentators. McVeigh punches Langford in the face. Nothing there. Last week Jack Redpath throws a punch and commentators are all over it. Double standard.

Hawthorn just played the same gameplan from the last meeting .Sydney looked disorganised, and out coached .
Sydney have two easy games and two hard games , so they'll make it.

They've used up a lot of petrol tickets just to get back into the frame - would not surprise me if they hit a brick wall.
Fantastic result for us.

Great result for us last night. What did everyone think of the score review? Seemed obvious to me the ball was punched through so the poor swans will be complaining about the umpires again but this time they were screwed. Must win for us tomorrow to take advantage of the swans slip up.

Absolute embarrassment , because they don't have clear cut technology . Looks like it's filmed from some grainy CCTV vision

I attended within the MCC last night. It was a fairly underwhelming game for much of the night, given the fairly good conditions. Some of the tackling was good, some of the defence was good, some of the kicking was good, but it didn't really seem to get going to the heights it could have.
Being neutral I didn't dress in any teams colours. About 30 minutes after the game within the third level's/bar's men's room (which is essentially a large echo chamber) I happened to be relieving myself alone, only for a Hawthorn MCC attendee to enter the room, proceed to make a phone call and lambaste who I assumed to be his friend for being a homo. As he was standing at the urinal on the other side of the room he couldn't see that I was giving him a really of a strange look due to his homophobic tirade (I think he also used the insult "pilgrim" - so you can imagine what we're dealing with here).
However, another Hawthorn supporting MCC attendee did see the strange look I was giving this guy for his tirade. This person - obviously drunk - proceeded to death stare me as he walked passed and when just passed me unleashed an even bigger homophobic tirade. I can't explain how loud this guy was screaming about Sydney supporter gayness, the Madi Gras, gayness in general, the Madi Gras, Sydney only having gayness and Madi Gras - so on and so fourth. It definitely seemed directed at me.
So there's a snapshot of a heterosexual Bulldogs supporters (who when dressed neutrally obviously presents as a homosexual Sydney supporter) experience at the MCC last night. I have no idea how it feels to be abused and discriminated against due to my sexuality, I'm not sure if the experience I had last night provides some insight.

I say screw Sydney and Horse. Didn't hear a peep out of them when JJ was robbed of a goal because of crap technology in the GF last year. If whinging about umps was an Olympic sport Horse would win gold for Australia

Sounds about right. Last year at the Semi Final some drunk Hawks wanker (50 years old, pink Ralph shirt, looked like the personification of Pubic House over 28s) tried to fight me because I had the temerity to cheer a Shaun Burgoyne clanger, then tried to pick up my mum.

I guess it was too much to expect a Giants loss as well as a Melbourne loss. The Dees implosion has done us a massive and unexpected favour, and they now have to travel to Canberra next week to play the Giants.
Top 4 is done and dusted for us but the top 8 is now very much in play.

Pros and cons with both. Saints win opens up the Port top 8 spot (and we play them later in the season) but it would also give us another challenger for a top 8 spot. Port winning will kill off the Saints for good, especially if they smash them and wreck their percentage
Plus the Saints give me the shits so I want them to get smashed :D

Not sure Bornadog.
Port losing helps make another spot available and the worse form they're in the better for us when we play in Ballarat but St.Kilda losing helps make sure hey can't jump us.
They've got WCE at Etihad, Melbourne at the G and North at Etihad. All are hard to predict and could help us as long as they don't win all three and end up ahead of us.

I reckon the top 4 still very much in play mate. We are only 8 points off it with a game in hand. Im not conceding until its impossible to do because this group can do anything, they have proved that and only a fool would write them off (I'm not saying you are a fool BTW. Bucks should have known he was on a hiding to nothing career wise by coaching Collingwood. He should have done one or two more seasons there as an assistant and moved on to another club where he could have had an impact without worrying about a legacy.
He's really smart, and actually becoming more and more humble as the days go by. I think he could have been an excellent coach, but instead, he's been a victim of the horse manure Eddie has ensured that club has been eating for half a decade since Bucks took the job on.

I agree he should have gone to other clubs and learnt different clubs strengths/ weaknesses etc. Hird, Voss and him are proof you can't come in and coach without experience at other clubs , you must do an apprenticeship first no matter how good a player you were.

Buckley is a smart guy but he needs to get away from Collingwood pronto. McGuire has been disastrous for Collingwood if you look at the big picture. Biggest and one of the wealthiest clubs for a long time but that has not been translated into sustained on-field success. Compare them to Hawthorn, Geelong, Sydney - they come up short. McGuire's decision to bring back Gubby Alan, whilst knowing the history the drug use cover up scandal at GWS, was reckless.

Norm Smith is the greatest coach of all time and he wasn't just handed the reins by Melbourne when he retired as a player. He went to Fitzroy for three years before taking over from Checker Hughes in 1952. But the apprenticeship served him and Melbourne well because he won flags in 1955, 56, 57, 59, 60 that's 5 in 6 years. The worst thing Eddie ever did to Bucks was to "save" him from coaching North Melbourne.
