Last year a young German couple, Tim and Lilli, stayed at our Homestay for a week or so. Tim is a real sports nut so I showed him the Easton Wood highlights package. He was really impressed, took an instant liking to the Dogs and watch the Grand Final live back in Germany.
Anyways, they are back with us again. They are very happy because their club, FC Koln, has made it into the Euro league next season for the first time in 25 years. It seems there are some parallels between FC Koln and us in terms of always having a dip, including everyone, not winning many trophies but having super loyal fans.

Tim put me on to this video below. It is something else. I would love Etihad to be filled with our colours like this. It is just spine tingling. I urge you to take a look at this and feel the passion these people have for their club. It's the same passion we have for ours.

But we need more songs. I'm working on one to the same tune as in the video below. I will put it up when I have nailed it.

Anyways, take a look at this. I'm sure you will enjoy it. Go Dogs! Go FC Koln!

The tune is 'The Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond' isn't it? Nice.

That knowledge is a bit Scottish for a name like Murphy isn't it?

Thought the same thing. Great song.

Isn't this what Port Power have done the last two years?

Psst, don't tell anyone... but Murphy isn't actually my real name...;)

Yes, it's "Loch Lomond". The song has a great history purportedly going back to Bonnie Prince Charlie. Wiki has a lot of info about the song. I love the passion on those faces.

So, inspired by FC Cologne's anthem, I penned this the same tune. I think it works but I'm no musician. I do know I'd love to see our fans singing like FC Cologne's.

THE RED WHITE AND BLUE

Together we will stand, to face a common foe
Let's link arms, we're united, we're the Bulldogs!
We're steadfast, staunch and true
And we love red white and blue
We are one, we're united, we're the Bulldogs.

In the darkest days of yore, back in 1989
They tried to wipe us out, but they failed!
Bulldogs rallied to the cause
And yelled: "Hey Oakley! UP YOURS!"
And we saved our Club, united, we're the Bulldogs!

Now we are here to stay
We are ready for the fray
For we love our Football Club
The Western Bulldogs!

We are red, white and blue
And our hearts beat strong and true
We're Real Strength, we are united
We're the Bulldogs!

So Bulldogs one and all
Get ready for the call
And barrack for our team
The Western Bulldogs!

Let's hold our colours high
Shout our name up to the sky
We're Real Strength, we are united
We're the Bulldogs!

When the sun sets in the West
Where our heroes spirits rest
And we've given of our best - never fear!
For our Football Club is strong
We are here where we belong
We are one, we're Real Strength, we're the Bulldogs!

Together we will stand, to face a common foe
Let's link arms and sing out loud
With all our passion!

TEMPO SLOWS HERE

For our hearts are welded to
The bold red, white and blue
Colours of our Club
The mighty Western Bulldogs!
