Does anyone else think Bevo should be trying to get Hodgey for a backline coach? IMO think he would be a great assistant/addition.

Welcome aboard Becc.

I'm not convinced Hodge would be a good fit for us. He might have the footy nous but could he really set the standard for our playing group?

Does anyone know if he has expressed an interest in coaching?

I'd be very surprised if hodge isn't a part of channel 7 rabble Next year.

Hey Becc. I'd like him at the club along the lines you say.

It would be a good fit.....Luke could teach our young players how to party hard but still be a professional on the field, and the young guys could introduce Hodgey to Uber.

Hodge has made it fairly clear he's wanting a year - at a minimum - in the meeja.

I read somewhere Brisbane were interested in him as an assistant.

I'd like Rohan Smith to be our backline coach!

I do think Hodge would be a good coach however.

Backline coach by a country mile.

Backline coach by a country mile.

Apparently some wanted him as an assistant, line assistant or leadership/mentoring roles. He's knocked back leadership type roles, but isn't making any decisions on others for a while apparently.

I think he said 'every club' has approached him so I'd assume if literal we'd be one. Otherwise missed where he singled us out

Apparently signing with Brisbane on a two year contract to play.

Hodge playing on with Brisbane?

He has had discussions as he wants to play, but hasn't received a formal offer, but is expected to.

Yeah I saw. They want to offer him 2 years. Good luck with involving him with their young players.

I can't see what's going to go wrong there.

If in order to get him, a club needs to offer a one year deal for playing and having an ex-Hawthorn person as coach, I'd offer that. Losing Bob & Boyd and hopefully wanting JJ on the wing, his experience down back would be good for one year. Look at the convo yesterday about Young's positioning, presumably under direction. A leader like Hodge should be bar to address that stuff on field. It's not going to happen, but I'd happily give him one year playing, and two as an assistant after.

im with you that would be a brilliant get. He could Marshall the backline for one last shot at a premiership. I pray Bevo is in his ear.

Does he have to play to coach the players about the backline strategy?
Also it depends if the strategy he knows and uses is the same one we are teaching.
