High guys. Here are my thought on the match yesterday.
Campbell - Scored our first goal. He has got a first quarter goal in so many games in the past that I now call him a first quarter specialist. Got another goal later in the game. Good game, one of our best.
Lipinski - So prominent all day with class and skills, although not a lot of disposals his 2 goals were good. Possible call-up to the senior side. Has kicked 6 goals in 2 games.
Roarke Smith - Showed some skills. Seemed to play in the midfield and was there at the bounce but did not do enough with only 14 disposals.
Schache - Didn't put in a good game. Had lower part of leg strapped up. Was on the bench for most of the game. May have an injured ankle as it was iced up.
Lynch - Looked like a small version of Young and often did some nice things. Seemed to pull a hamstring in the last quarter that may see him out for a while.
Webb - Was one of the better players with 32 disposals and some clearances, but made his fair share of mistakes.
Boyd - Kicked 5 goals including 3 in 15 minutes. Had 11 hit outs. Still gets a lot of attention from the opposition. Did quite a lot of tough bulloking work. Gaining confidence.
Porter - Developing fairly well with a solid game.
Roughead - Played mostly in the ruck and was the best ruckman for the day. Standard sort of game.
Young - Started off dropping a chest mark but afterwards took control of the backline with 10 marks. Got up high sometimes. Good game.
Green - Didn't see much of him.
Mullenger-McHugh - Had the play of the day as far as I am concerned. Marked the ball outside forward 50 on the flank. Waited, looked up, waited, looked up, you could see it - his body language was saying, "lead to me Boydy", "lead to me", Boyd led, bang - a ripper of a pass to Boyd who marked right in front and goaled. Otherwise he played just an OK game.
Roberts - Standard sort of Roberts game. Young is now the boss of the backline.
Another highlight of the game was Liam Nash's dribble goal from about 35 meters out. He kicked it out of a pack and the ball bounced this way and that way and finally made it over the goal-line. Gave us a big thrill.
Footscray kicked that last 9 goals of the match leaving Coburg scoreless in the last quarter.
Footscray now sit 7th on the ladder with a percentage of 141.38.

Who can we call-up into the seniors. Surely we have to get rid of Honeychurch and Jong.
1. Roughead - will be back to his best.
2. Boyd - I prefer as a ruckman who can pop into the forward line rather than as stay-at-home KP Forward.
3. Campbell - maybe as a forward, but we have tried this many times in the past and it hasn't really worked.
4. Young - seems to have regained his form from last year. Good player.
5. Webb - maybe to replace Jong or Honeychurch. They are all the same sort of players, good for Footscray and duds in the seniors. I would have delisted the trio from last year to four years ago. Then we could be playing whom-ever it was that we replaced them with, who in the worst-case scenario would be just as bad.
6. Lipinski - can kick a goal, good forward craft.
Roarke Smith - no. Never was good enough, should have been delisted 3 years ago eventhough he did get a few crook knees.
Lynch - seems to be coming good but may have sustained an injury. I would have delisted him last year too.
Mullenger-McHugh - no. should have been delisted last year too, despite his one great play today.
Hanging onto duds like Honeychurch, Webb, Smith, Jong and even Roberts for so long means that now we don't have any promising young midfielders to promote into the seniors. The list managers need a big kick up the backside and shown out of the door.
