Information is sketchy, but Majak was retrieved from the Yarra after falling from the Bolte Bridge. He apparently stopped his car in the middle of the bridge and jumped. At this stage it is all speculation, but every news report has the Lifeline phone number on it.

All over reddit, MFB launched their boat to drag him out of the water. "Non-life threatening injuries" (broken pelvis), stopped his car on the bridge to jump over the fence. Sad news.

You just have to feel sorry for someone to get to the stage where they think something like this is the only option for them.
I'm sure North will put an extensive support network around him

Statement from NMFC
The North Melbourne Football Club can confirm Majak Daw is recovering in hospital after an incident last night.
At this stage the full extent of his injuries are unknown, however he is in a stable condition.
The club is providing full support to Majak and his family and will give a further update when it is in a position to do so.
We understand the level of interest but ask the privacy of the player, his family, teammates and staff at the club be respected at this sensitive time.
This is very sad and just goes to show the mental issues effecting players.

A former colleague of mine is a very good friend of Majak's. Majak was best man at his wedding. By all accounts he is an absolute gentleman and one of the nicest blokes you'll ever meet.
I'm absolutely shattered at this news.

Terribly sad. Wishing him all the very best, and anyone else who is struggling to find hope.
Really bad news, hope he recovers well both mentally and physically.

I had two quotes on bigfooty that I'll just quote here
Some people are very good at bottling it up and keeping a facade that everything is fine. With these people you don't know anything is wrong until it's too late.
Sadly it's the whole darkest before dawn thing; we often can't look at our issues and take the steps to help ourselves until they've come to a head and it's often too late. A suicide attempt five years ago gave me something to work towards never being like again and I'm a far more mentally healthy person these days as opposed to even two years ago but it's hard to know how bad it is until you hit rock bottom.
Some people are able to keep up the facade and you'll have no idea something is wrong until it cracks. I hope that he recovers and gets the help that he needs.

This was posted by a teacher at my old school:
About five years ago, I was walking out of 7/11 in Werribee. I had parked right in front of the door and Majak was walking in.
He said hello, as always, he asked how I was and how the family was doing.
I said to him, “Yeh, all good, there’s my young bloke”, pointing at my car.
He replied, “Ahh Liam!”
I responded, “No, that’s Eamonn.”
The next minute blew me away.
Maj turned to me and said “No way! He can’t be that big, can I say hello?”
“Of course!”
Maj spun on the spot, stuck his big head in the window and put his hand out. Eamonn took his hand and after a few short introductions commented...
“Funny, your hand is the same colour as mine on the inside” while pointing at Majak’s palm.
With the biggest smile Majak said,
“Yes it is! We are more the same than most people think.” Eamonn was wide eyed and enamoured.
They had a little chat, a bit of a giggle and Majak popped back up.
Turning to me he said,
“You have a pretty smart kid there Mr O’Mahoney, Sean, you know, Sir”
It was to this day, my favourite moment of kid/man/dad/student/adult/friend. I learnt more in that one little moment than I can describe.
Your impact, influence and immediacy is profound.
Love you Maj. Heal well.

There was an article about how Buku is adjusting and Majak apparently got in touch with him as soon as he was drafted to wish him luck and to offer advice.

There was an article about how Buku is adjusting and Majak apparently got in touch with him as soon as he was drafted to wish him luck and to offer advice.
Despite his involvement with the Bulldogs and growing up as an Essendon supporter, Khamis’ football heroes are those from multicultural backgrounds with the defender admiring North Melbourne’s Majak Daw and the West Coast Eagles’ Nic Naitanui.
“When I started playing the game they inspired me because they were different. I can relate especially to Majak because our backgrounds are the same.”
When his status as a Bulldogs player was confirmed, Daw reached out to Khamis sending him a congratulatory text message and letting him know the young player would have his full support as he navigated the AFL system.
I was in North Melbourne catching up with some one for a coffee earlier this week, and we were talking about mental health. The waiter said Majak was there a few days before his incident and seemed fine, laughing and enjoying with his mates. It just goes to show, it is hard to tell when someone has an issue unless they speak up.
I hope he can recover as quickly as possible.

I wish Majak a full return to wellness. It is a big wake up call to all of us to look out for those around us. You just never know.

Majak is apparently walking around (with a frame) which is a positive sign so early.

It's a nice message to his many followers, family and friends but I suspect he's a long way from being healthy.
Wishing him all the best.
