Box Hill did not play any Hawthorn AFL players so the result needs to be seen in this context.

Schache had a very good game I thought - moved very well and his kicking was again a highlight. Difficult to understand why he is not in Mackay.

After being virtually unsighted in the first half, Dickson's goal kicking accuracy was all apparent in third.

Greene looked good up forward with his long gadget arms netting him some fine marks and score involvements.

Roberts had a faultless game down back.

Cavarra got into the game more when he went into the midfield and he moves well with ball in hand.

Lachlan Young looks a solid, defensive type.

Lewis Young very good in the air but still prone to howlers with his kicking.

Smith was busy early but seemed to fade out of the game.

I hardly noticed Lynch with only rare flashes of his dash and run.

West was disappointing and had no real impact on the game; a long way off AFL level at this stage.

Sweet and Vandermeer did not play from what I could see.

Will wait and see. Schache really improved in the latter part of the year. Crozier another who did get better as the year went on after a slow start.

Qt Dogs 3.3 to Sandy 1.1. Prettt blustery at present. Sweet clearly best big man on ground, but not sure who is opposition is. Lipper worked hard the qtr as well and Roberts solid in the Backline.

Plenty of the ball that qtr, but didn’t show up on the scoreboard. Dogs 7.11 to Sandy 5.2. Greene and Sweet missed relatively easy shots directly in front. Rain has been constant since half time. Likely to mean the main game will be affected by slippery ball. Lynch stationed in goal square most of that qtr, but I dont think that move worked

Thanks for great updates Smads. You deserve a piping hot pie and coffee to warm yourself up. Feeling cold just reading your updates. Brrrrr....I really hope Greene makes it as I think he has potential to be really good and a little bit different than our other forwards-quick thinking, go go gadget arms and a decent shot for goal (geez I bet I have put curse on him now). Great to hear Dickson, Lippa and Roberts going well. Good to have some depth. Hoping Cavarra plays a bit in next match.
