I’ll top that. I have never had football related dreams, but last night I dreamt that I was watching the game and we kicked the first goal (without any points first) and then followed it up with another straight out of the middle. THEN we were able to repel a Richmond entry to rebound and score a third. It felt like the Freo game from round 1 in 2015. My subconscious wins this round of “whose most delusional”.

But I too can’t help feeling something is in the air.

Trengove doing well against Lynch in what should be a dIfficult matchup for him. Hays turns it over in the middle with an overly ambitious kick and then puts in a rather weak effort to tackle. What's he in the side for again? At least Gowers compliments his poor efforts with some good marking on occasion.

DOG GOD
04-05-2019, 08:38 PM
So Hayes is a trier. Is that enough for Bevo ? Coz it’s not enough for me.

And Young is a slight upgrade on R.smith....just, but we have enough tries. Like comrade said re: stack. I just can’t fathom picking Hayes (decent vfl player with avge skills), when guys like stack don’t get drafted.

When we are running and running hard, we look sensational. Imagine what a few more X factor types could do to this team.

MrMahatma

A great first half of footy. A good second quarter of set shot kicking.

Naughton is dead set the man. That 15 minute patch in the second was just electric.

Need to keep taking our chances. We lost momentum at the end of the second so need to come out blazing.

merantau
04-05-2019, 08:39 PM
We need to come out FIRING. Richmond got back into it, partly aided by a gift to Houli, but nevertheless they were competitive in the last 10 minutes of that quarter after being dominated up to that point. We should win this game. Libba strangely quiet.

I think it was could be quite instructive that we didn't cough up our trademark goal in the last minute.

Bar a few shaky moments late that quarter, we really dominated and for a change got scoreboard reward.

Daniel, has been fantastic. Has to be leading our B&F?
English holding his own against Nankervis, and besting him around the ground thus far too.
Bont especially in the first was the dominant player on the field.
Crozier has been solid too.

Close to our best quarter of the year. Well done. Let's nail the last qtr.

A 51 point 14 minutes against Hawthorn aside, it'd second best I'd think. When it clicks, it clicks.

What's this contested marking in the forward line business?

It's foreign to my eyes.

Do you mean taking marks when your opponent jumps for the contest too? I've never seen it before, no idea what ir's called.

This is the sort of football we are capable of. Will there be another twist in the game or will we be able to sit back take it easy and fill out the footy record with some more goals?

If history is anything to go by, we'll need an after the siren goal just to get the 4 points.

Great game, and so much to like, with many improved performances.

JJ running into form, Caleb Daniels superb performance, Easton has his mojo back, with solid efforts by Lachie Young, Zaine Cordy and Jackson Trengove down back. I don't think Lynch enjoyed their attention. Nice to see the run from the backline, and the handball club back in business.

Crozier, Richards and Smith give so much confidence that they will win the one on ones, and break out games from Tim English and Aaron Naughton.

MacLean, Wallis, Dunkley and Libba were just mid-field warriors, and Sam Lloyd was always a danger. Dicko contributed a number of pressure acts throughout the night.

And "The Bont" is back to being, well, "The Bont". And that's very high praise indeed.

Great team effort all around.

At the final siren against Freo I texted my son and said: we will beat Richmond next week. You heard it here first!!

The last few weeks have been hard. Yet apart from the Carlton abomination, we’ve been gallant, with something just not clicking. Usually that something was our goal or should I say point kicking, which just sapped every ounce of energy.

I’m proud that the team didn’t just shrug their collective shoulders and see another year slip away. I love that Bont and Wood stepped up, that JJ regained the run, that a kid called Naughton had me out of my seat expecting me to mark everything that came near him. I didn’t think our situation was as bad as so many were saying, hence my optimistic (slightly deluded) text. Finally, we got reward for all that toil, and I’m proud and thrilled. Now to watch the Aaron Naughton show all over again....:)

That was a good night at the footy. I was concerned that wayward goal kicking would hurt us again but Richmond wee wasteful as well and between Naughton and the Bont, we did the damage on the scoreboard.

Trengove in has been very valuable. Freed up Cordy and Wood a fair bit and the whole back six benefited from his game.

I have never had football related dreams, but last night I dreamt that I was watching the game and we kicked the first goal (without any points first) and then followed it up with another straight out of the middle. Special mention to Trengove.

I’ve been critical but he was fantastic tonight against an elite player. Gave Lynch an absolute bath and that tackle was brilliant!

There was a part early in the game where a Richmond player was streaming forward and Trengove left Lynch to defend the goals and in the end got an intercepted mark, it was a decisive bit of play. He got caught out a couple of times but he more than did his job.

What did everyone think of Cordy in the ruck? As unconventional as that was, we actually played quite well when he was on the ball.

I think the fact that we moved Cordy into the ruck meant that we planned that Trengove had to stay on Lynch regardless

Great to hear Boyd slotting it from 45 out. Warms the heart.

I hope he gave someone a piggy back Titanic-style as part of his celly.

It looks like this is going to be a wide open competition this year and 12 wins could earn a spot in the finals. Percentage is likely to play a role so it is imperative that we start taking our chances. Naughton made a huge difference. Get Scache up and firing too and we create a lot of problems for our opponents. Our problems for the last two years have largely been to do with delivery to the forwards and goal kicking.

I reckon our area was only 70% full this week and only about 60% at the last home game. There has to be a reason for it

I think that's been the case at all games this year. Would love to know why? It's one thing supporters not being there but it's a bit unusual with the cheer squad.

I think you're correct, I might try and find our tomorrow why the cheer squad area has been so sparsely attended

One reason might be it was Easter Sunday one game.
People have family roasts, shocking time to have a game, another reason might be all the bloody road works done , might have been same game, they also did a kids walk on a game as well.

Carlton had more people in their cheer squad area than we did for our home game. Sure they'd have the same excuses?
Then last night we had roughly the same numbers

I've been reading a few complaints on FB about club communication with cheer squad members and the system of having supervisors ordering people about and telling them what they can and can't do.

People say they comtact the club to clear situations up but don't hear anything back.

That has actually jogged my memory that didn’t we have a revamp of the cheer squad due to similar issues a few years back?
