It's on Facebook but not on the website yet so can't post it but even if you don't like it, be secure in the fact that we have a great normal jumper so a one off variation can only be a bonus.

I think even the purists can accept the variation for the Indigenous round at least.

I like the design it's great but the yellow colouring up top doesn't go. It's a jumper of two halves. Pity we don't have an indigenous boy to showcase it.

I don't mind it. I'd like it more if we had an indigenous star or even well known player to model it.

2019 Indigenous guernsey: The Brett Goodes story (https://www.westernbulldogs.com.au/news/2019-05-15/2019-indigenous-guernsey-the-brett-goodes-story)
The personal story of Brett Goodes, told through themes of family, culture and club, inspired the design of the Western Bulldogs’ 2019 Indigenous guernsey.
The Bulldogs will wear the specially designed guernsey for their Round 10 Sir Doug Nicholls Round game against North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium on Saturday, May 25.
Goodes was presented with the opportunity to have his story depicted on the guernsey, with the design created by renowned Indigenous artist Nathan Patterson.
Goodes has enjoyed a long association with the Western Bulldogs through a number of roles – as a player welfare manager, a 22-game AFL player and as the Club’s Ballarat Engagement Manager.
More recently, he has led the Club’s Indigenous programs, including the launch and ongoing execution of the Bulldogs’ Reconciliation Action Plan.
“With my role at the Club, and the Club going down the path of reconciliation with an Action Plan and me taking this new role, I thought it was a great opportunity to tell my story through the guernsey, but to also tell the story of what we’re doing as a Club,” Goodes said.
“It’s quite humbling to have this jumper designed and to work closely with the artist Nathan Patterson, who’s a wonderful artist based here in Victoria.
“To know a lot of the boys who will go out and wear it and play in it, I’ve got a lot of connections with those players, so I’m sure they’ll represent it and be as proud of it as I am.”
Along with committing to a Reconciliation Action Plan, the Bulldogs have long been a supporter of the Indigenous community.
One of its flagship community programs, the Nallei-Jerring Koori Youth Leadership Project, aims to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander young people by encouraging leadership within the local Aboriginal community.
The Bulldogs’ Next Generation Academy aims to identify the best young Indigenous playing talent in the Club’s zone, through inner western Melbourne and regional western Victoria.
A portion of the proceeds made from the sale of the guernsey will go towards its Indigenous programs.
IN HIS OWN WORDS: BRETT GOODES TELLS THE STORY BEHIND THE 2019 BULLDOGS INDIGENOUS GUERNSEY DESIGN
Family
The most important element, and the centrepiece of the design, represents my love for family; sitting at a campfire with my brothers Jake and Adam, and my mother Lisa.
Culture
I am of Adnyamathanha & Narugga descent (South Australia). Adnyamathanha, also known as the ‘Rock People’ of the Flinders Ranges, is represented in the artwork with the sun rising on Akurra (giant water snake) moving and shaping the Ranges around him.
Narungga people are also known as the ‘Butterfish Mob’ of the Yorke Peninsula (represented bottom left).
Club
At the bottom of the design there are three footballs and three circles, representing my connection to the Club; my first role as player welfare manager, my current role working in Indigenous programs and my time as a player spanning over eight years.

I really like this! I opened the link with trepidation, but the linking of the sun to mission and the aboriginal flag is cool.
Pleasantly surprised. I think we are well established enough, that for a special event we can permit a little accent colour. The yellow might be a little less proportionally. Also like that the fish and other animals are a little cartoonish. Not all indigenous themes have to be dark and overbearing / edgy. Well done.
And at the end of the day, we ain't coming close to the horror-fashion-wreck that Hawthorn have dished up with event strips in the last ten years.
'
And while I am typing Brett Goodes playing career is well remembered, by how he got to us, and what he used to bring to the field. Was a fantastic chunky defender, at a time when we were easily roughed up.

I am right behind club initiatives like the Reconciliation Action Plan, and the work Goodes is doing, and the story of the jumper. That said, aesthetically, and this is completely subjective - it's horrible. I've seen last year's being worn plenty, so my opinion is largely irrelevant though. :D
I'm just here to boost my post count. :D

Have to agree here, most of them are just too busy for a football jumper, fine for a close up piece of art but from a distance it looks a mess.
On the same subject, the afl website has a link to all the clubs jumpers and the designers, with I think all the indigenous players from each club wearing them.
Scroll down to our club and we have Easton Wood sporting the top.
Kind of embarrassing that we are the only club (correct me if i'm wrong) that does not have an indigenous player on the list.

Not a coincidence that Impey and Wingard both picked Hawthorn over us.

Nicholls Round might be the best awareness/inclusion concept the AFEL have implemented but I'm still yet to see a themed guernsey that succeeds. Visually, our jumper's a shocker but so is everyone else's.
Anyway, happened upon this ace Indigenous Players Country Map (http://www.aflplayers.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/AFLPA_Indigenous-Player-Map-Update-2018_HR.pdf) from the AFLPA website, albeit the 2018 edition.
It's 2019 and seems we're still the only club in the league without an AFL listed indigenous player. I hope that changes.

So it's that time of the year again when we trot out Sam Lloyd or Easton Wood in our Indigenous guernsey because we don't have a First Nations player on the list. Are we still the lone holdout honouring people who who've long since moved on from the club?
This is more a lament than a criticism but Sir Doug Nicholls' Round embraces messages that are more vital than ever and it's a rare opportunity to feel good about the broader culture of the game, so anyone else feeling a little left out?
In b4 "we tried" and "but Jamarra".

I know what you are saying but our list is what it is. As long as there is no systemic recruiting along race-lines (like some VFL/AFL clubs have been tarnished with in history) then it is something we just have to live with.
I feel more left-out when we are not making a deep-run into the Finals!

Ha. I wondered that too. Then I thought that he could be the Coleman medallist and that made more sense from a collectors / investment stand point.
Bont is high too could be the Brownlow medallist.
Jamarra #1 draft pick / indigenous jumper.

How do we do that?
I was watching a clip of an indigenous kid with the premiership cup flown out to his community and many others on its tour of the indigenous communities. The little boy said that “nothing interesting happens out here. We have to go to Perth to do something interesting”. Imagine if these communities are seeing the cup up close, then the GF in Perth and we wear our Indigenous strip and have Marra out and about in the week before to win hearts and minds while paying respect to our First Nations people. We should give out as many jumpers as we can afford to. We are a true community club and I’d love for us to show the respect and compassion this fortnight in contrast to the respect and compassion we’ve been denied.

This was when we played them in Round 19. Based on that, I would say we will wear our normal strip.

We wore our standard strip with white shorts in the Saturday night game (or the Weightman game as I’ll remember it) so I imagine this will work again.
EDIT - beat me to it Angelo. What a pic!

Great news! I was worried we'd be donning the ugly white jumper too.
Love our strip (especially with the red trim).

I've never really enjoyed an extra colour going into the jumper - happy with the design, just not having black. I think it should be red white and blue only.

I don't want to pimp for opposition clubs, but the Saints indigenous jumper for this year is absolutely brilliant, probably the best I can remember from any club.
Ours is a cracker as well.

I like it.... Except it looks like a hybrid suns tigers jumper.
They've lost the Aints along the way.

I love how they've used their historic colours from 1915-1922 when they decided not to be Germany's red, white and black.

The Western Bulldogs have revealed their 2024 Indigenous guernsey design for Sir Doug Nicholls Round.
The design, inspired by the communities and the land in Victoria?s west, was created by Tarni Jarvis, a proud Djab Wurrong, Kirrae Wurrong and Peak Wurrong woman who lives on Wadawurrung country in Ballarat.
For the first time in the club?s history, two guernseys have been created to mark the two-week Sir Doug Nicholls Round celebrations - a home kit in the usual Bulldogs blue, as well as a clash guernsey that is predominately white.
The traditional hoops have been replaced with riverways, representing the connection between different countries of the west, while the arches at the bottom symbolise mountain ranges, with communities represented alongside. The same riverways can be seen in the background of the design as well.
Jarvis explained what each aspect of the design means to her.
?I was inspired by the beautiful area I live in, as well as my ancestors? countries,? Jarvis said.
?The riverways are important parts of our dreamings that have provided and cared for us for over 65,000 years.
?The mountain ranges are strong features throughout our dreamings, and important land markings for us on which ceremonies take place.
?The communities across the west contain so many different members of different cultures who come together in places like Ballarat, contributing to so much beautiful diversity within the First Nations community.?
The clash guernsey will be worn against GWS in the first week of Sir Doug Nicholls Round, with the blue iteration to be worn at home against Sydney next Thursday night.
The same design will also be worn across the VFL, VFLW and AFLW?s respective Indigenous Rounds.
*Only the blue iteration will be available for purchase. The match-worn clash guernseys will be auctioned off.
