The Bulldogs Past Players Group are holding a Reunion Event at Marvel Stadium during Round 1 v Collingwood to celebrate the 1985 Bulldogs team that fell agonisingly short of glory.

All your favourites will be there including B&F Winner Doug Hawkins, Coleman Medalist Simon Beasley, plus stars Royal, Hardie, Foster, Wallis, MacPherson, Kennedy, McLean, Purser, Bamblett and even Captain Groenewegen! It will be the first time Coach Mick Malthouse and Brownlow Medalist Brad Hardie have been in such an intimate room since the infamous jumper waving episode...

What a way to inject even more excitement into the Season Opener!

Guess what a way to fire up a supporter base for a year.

I wish I was doing the place cards for this event.

I was disgusted with Hardie pulling off our jumper. Especially on field or over the boundary in the public forum but what a year he had winning the brownlow.

I get offered to go to these but I’m not a past player and just would feel awkward , was my era at the club back then.

I was at that game and thought what an idiot doing that. I was also disappointed as I really liked Brad as a player.

Lelly Bamblett was such an excitement machine.... Best small forward we’ve had in my time supporting the dogs.

My favorite Footscray player of all time.

You rate him higher than Johhno or Monty?

You rate him higher than Johhno or Monty?

I do.

I think Johnno almost played a tall role rather than a small forward and Lally was better than Monty.

For pure excitement yes I do. Great defenders would fall over themselves whenever Les turned up. He made good players look like fools.

I was sitting at a game with Jim once when Johnno took an overhead mark against three defenders in the goal square. Jim said to me "If Johnno was 6 inches taller we would be saying "who's Wayne Carey?" and he was right.

Wish I was around during this time to witness that 85 season when we nearly won. I know the names but it was all happening a couple of years before I was born :)

It was a good year that ended very badly. Keep an eye out for number 9. The second goal is a thing of beauty.

Just looking at this footage at about 3.40 there is a passage of play where Bruce Reid kicks it to Terry DeKoning. What's unusual about that?

Quick hint is Brian Cordy

Well back to Collingwood and round 1 we know Beams is out.
Is Moore available as he causes us headaches, doesn’t look like Cox will play, he enjoys playing us as well.

Lally was my first and still favourite player so quick to pounce on a loose ball. Such a shame he never parlayed more footy.

Lally was my first and still favourite player so quick to pounce on a loose ball. Such a shame he never parlayed more footy.

I heard a story that when Terry Wheeler was appointed coach one of the first things he did was to reach out to Lall to see if he was still interested in playing footy and if he was then come down for the pre-season (he would only have been 27 or so) Les arrived and let's just say his skin folds werent the best they had ever been, the exact quote was "he was the size of the side of a barn" according to the person who told me the story.
