I saw this on Twitter the other day where someone (perhaps a WOOF member) posted his best 22 since 85 but also included 3 emergencies, 1985 was a sensational year for us and I think we should have won the flag given the strength of our playing list.

The team suggested on Twitter was

B: Morris Kennedy Croft
HB: Gilbee Foster Wallis
C: Hawkins S.West Cameron
HF: Johnson Grant Smith
F: Kolyniuk Beasley Royal
R: Wynd Bontempelli Liberatore
I/C: Atkins Giansiracusa M.Boyd Picken
Emerg: Cross Macrae MacPherson

So with that in mind I'd like to challenge all of our WOOF members to come up with their best 25 since 1985.
If your old enough you are likely to remember many worthy players if your a bit younger perhaps do some research to help assemble your side or base it on the more recent players that you have seen. Given we have a 7 man bench (lets assume it's a Sunday game) try to consider having a minimum of 2 ruck man in the squad.

So the players had to have played between the years of 1985 and 2019.

Lets see who's bold enough to put their team forward

Has this person excluded players who left the club on purpose do you think?

That's remarkably close to the team I posted on FB or Twitter last week. But I'm pretty sure I only picked 22 with no emergencys.

Perhaps but Hawkins, Cameron and Cross left to play elsewhere albeit on good terms.
I think there was a qualifier that players needed to have played at least 50 games

The first cut of my team is:

B: B.Hardie, B.Lake, M.Croft
HB:L.Gilbee P.Foster R.Smith
C: D.Hawkins, S.West, R.Griffen
HF: J.Akermanis, C.Grant N.Eagleton
F: B.Johnson S.Beasley B.Royal
R: S.Wynd, M.Bontempelli, T.McGuinness
I/C: T.Liberatore, J.Romero, L.Darcy, A.Cooney, N.Brown, M.Robbins. B.Montgomery

I might look at a couple of taller players to balance the squad a bit better.

I've left out some excellent players so far but it is a first draft ;)

Just looking at that team without putting a whole team together (which I will) R.Murphy in for Croft without a second thought. Cooney in for Gia. Maybe sneak L.Darcy in on the bench for Cross.

Given the thread is best 25 since 85 I'm calling bullshit on Mick Egan Twodogs
He played just 5 games in 85, 10 games in 86 and just 1 game in 87

His best footy was well before 85
