Despite the uncertainty of the 2020 AFL season amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Bulldogs’ members have largely continued their strong support of the Club.

The incredible support of the Western Bulldogs members has been ‘humbling’ during such a difficult time across the country, according to CEO Ameet Bains.

As AFL Clubs work hard to secure their financial futures, the importance of membership revenue has become a key topic of conversation.

Despite the uncertainty of the 2020 AFL season amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Bulldogs’ members have largely continued their strong support of the Club.

However, Bains told SEN’s Gerard Whateley on Thursday that the Bulldogs will continue to assist those who are suffering financial hardship through the pandemic.

“In the last week we’ve sold 60 new memberships,” Bains said.

“We’re seeing the overwhelming proportion of people continuing on supporting the Club. It’s been incredibly humbling to continue to receive that support.

“We’re also equally understanding that’s not a luxury everyone has, and we need to accommodate individuals that tell us otherwise because we understand not only on an industry level but on a national and global level that we are encountering unprecedented times.

“We will continue to work with anyone who is affected in that way.”

Bains said the Club would be “at the front of the queue” if the season returns and the staging of games at suburban venues was deemed a realistic possibility by the AFL.

Locations like VU Whitten Oval, Ikon Park and Victoria Park have been suggested as potential host venues for League games, if crowds were unable to watch matches and the AFL considered it a viable option.
